The Heart Remembers - Part 8

Penthouse, Port Charles Hotel:

“Stop looking so nervous, it’s going to be ok, they are going to love you,” said Lucky pulling Elizabeth into his arms for lingering kiss.

The door opened and Theresa stood beaming at her son and Elizabeth causing a deep blush to cover Elizabeth’s face. “Well you two finally decided to show up, huh?” said Theresa smiling and stepping aside so they could enter the penthouse.

Once inside Lucky reached over and gave his mom a hug and a kiss before taking Elizabeth’s hand and leading her over to the sofa. “Where’s everyone?” Asked Lucky looking around for the rest of his family wanting to tell them all his news at the same time.

“Danielle was checking out Port Charles with Sly, but they are on their way back here. Your dad is on the phone with the hospital, Patricia and Jonathan will be out any minute and your grandparents will be here momentarily.”

“Then I guess we’ll just wait until everyone gets here so I can tell everyone at the same time,” said Lucky smiling at his mother.

Theresa nodded deciding not to push the matter since she was certain Malcolm’s news was that he had decided to remain in Port Charles to get to know Elizabeth and his other family.

Theresa offered them both refreshments, which they declined, choosing instead to talk to her about the previous evening. “So my cousin Sly and Danielle really hit it off, huh?” Asked Lucky a mischievous glint in his eyes.

“We all think so, but Danielle is being completely unreasonable about the entire matter. She hasn’t said anything useful thus far, just that Sly was giving her a tour of Port Charles.”

“And I know that must really be driving you insane right mom?” Smiled Lucky. He knew that more than anything else his mother hated being left out of her children’s lives.

“I am perfectly fine with Danielle being a stick in the mud, if she wants to keep everything to herself let her. See if I care,” said Theresa her chin raising.

When Lucky was able to contain his laughter he leaned over and whispered to Elizabeth that his mother was the noisiest mom on the planet. “I am not nosey,” objected Theresa. “I just have a natural motherly interest in what happens to my children, what’s wrong with that?”

“I think it’s sweet,” nodded Elizabeth, smiling conspiratorially at Theresa. “See, only another woman would appreciate this, men just don’t understand these things, something about the make-up of the male genes.”

“Mom?” “It’s true, a medical fact,” said Theresa firmly. Lucky shook his head and Elizabeth chuckled giving Lucky a little poke in the rib.

The discussion was interrupted by the sound of door opening admitting Danielle, Sly and Lucky’s grandparents.

Lucky smiled broadly and immediately went over to hug his grandparents, directing Elizabeth over to be introduced.

“So this is the beautiful Ms. Webber,” said Theodore Steele kissing Elizabeth on the cheek. “You’re even more beautiful than Danielle described,” added Sarah Steele, also kissing Elizabeth’s cheek. “Thank you,” said Elizabeth completely flustered.

A minute later Patricia and Jonathan joined the group in the living room and after hugs were exchanged and Michael joined the group everyone sat down at Lucky’s request. The room fell quiet as everyone waited in anticipation to hear Lucky’s news.

“I guess the best way to do this is to just come right out and say it,” declared Lucky feeling slightly nervous. Everyone nodded expectantly, all believing that Lucky was going to announce that he’s decided to relocate to Port Charles.

“My memory has returned,” said Lucky with emotion. Everyone’s faces reflected their shock at Lucky’s news and all sat quietly not knowing how to respond.

“It was really remarkable actually, I kissed Elizabeth and it was as if the floodgate to my mind opened and it all just came flooding back. I remembered everything, my life before and during the kidnapping, everything,” exclaimed Lucky.

Theresa was the first to speak, tears in her eyes she got up and went to Lucky pulling him into her arms. “I think that’s wonderful Malcolm, I’m so happy for you.”

Lucky returned his mom’s hug feeling like a weight was lifted from his chest. He was most concerned about telling his mom, because he didn’t want her to feel threatened by his past.

Soon the remainder of his family began to repeat Theresa’s sentiment. Elizabeth watched smiling from her position on the sofa as the Steele family demonstrated their love for Lucky and each other.

“They are so much like the Spencer’s, underneath,” thought Elizabeth as she watched the genuine show of emotions the Steele family exhibited.

Later, as everyone returned to their previous positions in the living room the discussion turned to relocation to Port Charles. Lucky was surprised and delighted to learn that his family were all making arrangements to relocate to Port Charles.

“I am speechless,” said Lucky to his smiling family. “Well we figure since you can pretty much run Steele Industries from Port Charles and General Hospital is such a wonderful establishment, we would make the move. This way you can have all your family in one place instead of on opposite sides of the country,” finished Theresa.

Michael squeezed Theresa’s hand that was resting on his thigh. “Besides, I need a break from being chief of staff and as you know I’ve always wanted to move into research medicine and General Hospital’s reputation in that area is second to none,” said Michael.

Lucky turned questioning eyes at his brother. “GH has several opening in our areas and with our credentials I am certain we will all be able to secure positions on the staff there,” added Jonathan.

Patricia nodded. “I bet the traffic here is non-existent compared to rush hour in LA,” piped in Patricia. “Most of all, though, this way we will all be together and no one loses anything,” remarked Sarah Steel, smiling at her grandson.

“Danielle?” Danielle jumped at the mention of her name, since she and Sly were lost in each other’s eyes during the discussion. “Oh, I am looking forward to living in Port Charles, from what I have already seen,” said Danielle glancing at Sly. “It’s going to be wonderful. Also, as you know, my office is the world so relocation won’t affect me in any way.”

“Well, it looks like you guys thought of everything,” said Lucky. “Thank you, I really hadn’t thought about where I would live and how it would affect both families. Your decision to move here is very thoughtful and greatly appreciated.”

Lucky and Elizabeth spent the next hour with his family who ordered CHAMPAGNE and toasted to life in Port Charles. Before leaving Lucky checked to make certain everyone was comfortable attending the party at the Quartermaine’s. At everyone’s smiling nods Lucky and Elizabeth bade farewell until the party.

Lobby, Port Charles Hotel:

Shortly after Lucky and Elizabeth left, Sly announced his departure feeling a bit unnerved as all eyes turned to him and Danielle.

“They can’t help themselves,” said Danielle smiling up at Sly. Not wanting to say goodbye to Sly with her entire family watching Danielle had offered to walk with Sly to the lobby.

“Oh, I like them, they all seem wonderful and I hope I get a chance to know them better,” said Sly trying to control the overwhelming desire he had to kiss Danielle right there in the lobby of the Port Charles hotel.

“I could pick you up tonight, I mean, if you like,” said Sly looking down at the floor. “I would like that,” whispered Danielle, meeting his eyes for a lingering look.

“The party begins at eight, so how about I pick you up at seven forty-five.” “I will be ready and waiting here in the lobby,” said Danielle smiling into Sly’s eyes.

“Until tonight then,” said Sly backing away. Danielle watched him leave, chuckling when he backed into a couple entering the lobby. Embarrassed Sly apologized and hurried out of the hotel not taking a breath until he was safely behind the wheel of his car.

Spencer’s Residence:

Elizabeth turned to Lucky as they pulled up in front of his parent’s house. The drive from the hotel was done in comfortable silent, Lucky going over in his mind all he wanted to say to his parents. Elizabeth, knowing he had a lot on his mind, decided to give him the space he needed to think.

“Are you ready?” “As ready as I am going to be,” said Lucky reaching over and giving Elizabeth a quick kiss before opening his door and getting out. Elizabeth waited for Lucky to open her door for her, then she takes his hand and steps onto the curb.

Together they walked up the Spencer’s drive pausing briefly on the porch for Lucky to collect himself before knocking. Luke answered the door a big smile forming on his face when he saw that it was Lucky and Elizabeth.

Lucky stood looking at his dad for a long minute as though seeing him for the first time. He noted how much older his dad looked and made a mental not to tell him he needed to shave that fuzz off his face.

“Laura it’s the lovebirds,” yelled Luke at the top of his lungs opening the door wider to admit Lucky and Elizabeth. On hearing Luke bellowing from the living room Laura rushed down the stairs to see what he was shouting about. She stopped at the bottom of the stairs when she saw Lucky and Elizabeth sitting together on the sofa.

“Well hello you two, for a while there I wondered if I would see you before the party,” said Laura winking at Luke who was sitting across from Lucky and Elizabeth with a big grin plastered all over his face. Elizabeth blushed and looked accusingly at Lucky, who smiled wickedly at her.

Laura joined Luke, Lucky and Elizabeth in the living room just as Lulu and Dillan walked in from the kitchen. As soon as Lulu saw Lucky her whole face lit up and without thinking she ran to him throwing her arms around his neck.

Lucky was delighted by Lulu’s impulsive show of emotion and returned the hug with vigor. “Sorry,” said Lulu pulling away slightly her face turning red. “It’s ok,” said Lucky pulling her back to him. “I rather enjoyed that.”

Tears sprung to Lulu’s eyes as she continued to hold her brother, delighting in the fact that he seemed to care for her.

A minute later Lucky stood up and after glancing nervously at Elizabeth for reassurance addressed his family. “I had hoped to have Nikolas and Emily here when I tell all of you this, but I guess I will just have to inform them later,” said Lucky looking from Luke to Laura.

“Inform us of what?”, asked Luke sadly, certain it was to tell them that he had to return to LA. Lucky smiled at his father whose eyes always belied whatever he was feeling.

“I have my memory back,” said Lucky simply. Everyone stared at Lucky in stunned silence, no one daring to hope that they had just heard Lucky correctly. Lucky began laughing when the only response he continued to get was silence.

“Here I was thinking that everyone would be overjoyed to know that I finally have my memory back, thus now knowing who everyone is.”

Luke sprung to his feet and walked swiftly over to embrace his son, tears quickly streaming down his face. Laura looked searchingly at Elizabeth, who gave her a cheerful nod. Reassured, Laura joined Luke and Lulu in a long family embrace.

Dillan and Elizabeth smiled knowingly at each other both aware of how meaningful this reunion was to the Spencer family. Dillan handed Elizabeth his handkerchief as she began sniffling softly at the scene they were witnessing.

Later, once everyone had collected themselves enough to have a conversation, Luke voiced the question on everyone’s mind. “When did this happen? How did this happen?”

Lucky and Elizabeth smiled at each other as Lucky recanted when and how his memory returned leaving out the intimate details. Laura shook her head smiling at Elizabeth. “Why did I know that you had something to do with this?”

“This is so romantic, it’s like ‘sleeping beauty’ waking up after her prince gave her a kiss,” remarked Lulu. “Except it was the princess who woke the sleeping prince,” added Dillan gaining an approving smile from Lulu.

Everyone laughed at the image and nodded that it was indeed like something from a fairy tale. “From now on, Lucky, I am calling you ‘sleeping beauty’ instead of Cowboy,” said Luke chuckling devilishly feeling like the entire universe had finally righted itself.

“Not if you expect me to answer,” said Lucky shaking his head at his father and falling into a friendly banter that caused everyone roll their eyes at them both.

“Oh, I have another announcement,” said Lucky. All eyes turned to him as they waited to hear his other news, no one except Elizabeth guessing what it was. “My other family has offered to move to Port Charles, which is great because I can’t imagine living anywhere else now.”

A smile quivered immediately on Luke’s lips spreading quickly to the rest of his face. “Ah, shucks and here we were making plans to move to the big city.”

“You were what?”, asked Lucky shocked. “Yea, your mother and I didn’t want to be away from you again, so we thought we would bid the old chuckles goodbye and head for LA.”

Laura and Luke exchanged happy smiles and chuckled when they saw the awed look on Lucky’s face. “I don’t know what to say, I mean, I feel so special that both my families are willing to turn their lives upside down just to be close to me,” said Lucky tears in his eyes.

“You are special,” said Laura. “And after everything you have been through the last thing you should have to deal with is conflict over where to live.” “Thank you mom, that means a lot to me.”

Elizabeth laced her arms through Lucky’s and leaned her head against his shoulders. “I agree with your mom, you are special and having you back is a miracle, the best miracle ever.”

Lucky reached over and kissed Elizabeth, forgetting that they weren’t alone in the room. “I guess I am Lucky after all,” whispered Lucky against her lips smiling down into her beaming face.

“Ahhhh, aren’t they sweet?” Luke gushed throwing Laura a knowing grin. Elizabeth blushed and smiled weakly at Luke knowing that she would never get away from him teasing her now.

“That was really nice of your other family to offer to move to Port Charles,” said Laura sincerely a moment later. “Yes it was, they are wonderful to me,” said Lucky. “I don’t really want to think of what could have happened to me had they not loved me.”

Luke and Laura nodded and glanced at each other helplessly. “We are very grateful Cowboy, I can’t even let myself think of what it would have been like for you without the love they obviously gave you.”

Laura nodded, making a promise to herself to refrain from being competitive with Theresa Steele. “Do you remember now what happened the night of the fire?”, asked Lulu changing the subject.

Lucky sighed and nodded, allowing his mind to return to that awful night when his entire world had been turned upside down. “Helena Cassidine and Cesar Faisan kidnapped me and staged my death.

I have no idea whose body was in my stead, but I do know that working together they managed to make the fire look like an accident. They switched my medical and dental record and planted the subway token for identification.”

Lucky went on to explain how he had been roused from his sleep by two of Helena’s goons. He told of the room he was held in for months, of Faisan’s taunting and mind games, and of Elizabeth’s safety being in jeopardy preventing him from escaping.

Lucky explained about the chess games and how it was in winning some of the matches that he had been able to ascertain Helena’s role in his abduction and captivity.

“Finally after months of captivity Faisan one day ordered his men to execute me. I don’t recall being shot only the beating. I guess I blacked out during the beating, because the next thing I remember I was waking up in the hospital without a clue as to who I was.”

By the time Lucky was through telling his story everyone was in tears, picturing the horrors of what he must have gone through.

“If it wasn’t for me you would have been home a long time ago,” said Elizabeth sadly. “No, if it weren’t for you I would have never found the strength to make it locked in that little room, Elizabeth. They would have found someone else to use against me. My mom, dad, Lulu, Lucas, Aunt Bobbie, any number of people I care about,” said Lucky firmly reaching over and pulling Elizabeth tightly to him.

Luke rubbed his head and sighed. “Lucky is right Elizabeth, Helena knew Lucky’s weakness would be the people he cared about. She just choose you because you were the most obvious but it could just have easily have been Lulu or Laura.”

Laura nodded. “This is not your fault, thankfully the people whose fault it was are dead, may their souls never rest in peace,” said Laura bitterly. Elizabeth nodded gratefully at Laura, sinking deeper into Lucky’s inviting arms.

Talks later turned to the welcome home party at the Quartermaines that evening and as the hour grew later Lucky and Elizabeth stood to leave.

Pulling Elizabeth to her feet Lucky bade his family farewell until the party. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” shouted Luke as Lucky and Elizabeth walked out the door. Lucky rolled his eyes and continued out the door accompanied by a chuckling Elizabeth.

Webber Residence fifteen minutes later:

Elizabeth groaned as she checked the time. “We only have an hour and a half to get ready and get to the party.” Lucky smiled lustily taking Elizabeth in his arms for a lingering kiss. Pulling away slightly he whispered his need for her in her ear.

“Lucky we can’t, there isn’t enough time,” giggled Elizabeth her knees turning to jelly, a feeling she was fast becoming accustomed. “I am the guest of honor, so I can be late if I choose to be and since you are my very special date, you get to be late too.”

Before Elizabeth could protest further, Lucky picked her up and swung her into his arms. Taking the stairs swiftly Lucky headed directly for the bedroom, depositing Elizabeth unceremoniously on the bed before joining her there.

Lucky groaned as he devoured her mouth darting his tongue in and out in a dual dance with hers. Elizabeth body was on fire as Lucky’s hands began roaming all over her. Rolling, Lucky took Elizabeth with him, pausing briefly to let the feel of her length stretched on top of him delight his senses.

Their hands raked over each other’s body feverishly of their own accord. “I need to feel your skin touching mine,” whispered Elizabeth raining kisses all over Lucky’s heated face.

Lucky pulled back and shed his clothes, watching as Elizabeth did the same. A few seconds later as they returned to each other, they trembled when their skins made contact. Pausing, Lucky savored the feel of them molded together sending shock waves throughout his system.

Elizabeth pulled Lucky down on her enjoying the feel of his weight pressing her into the mattress. She ran her arms along Lucky’s sides relishing the feel of the strength of him as they kissed each other with undisguised passion.

Lucky teased and caressed Elizabeth’s body until she thought she would explode from wanting him. “Now Lucky, please, I need you now,” whispered Elizabeth writhing beneath him, her thighs pulled up cradling his hips. She almost came apart at the feel of his throbbing member pressed against her.

Lucky guided himself slowly into Elizabeth’s waiting heat causing them both to moan deeply at the feel of him sliding into her.

Lucky moved slowly at first, but his movements quicken rapidly, spurred on by Elizabeth’s fevered movements beneath him driving them both over the edge.

Lucky collapsed onto Elizabeth, his breathing labored, heart racing. Elizabeth wrapped her arms around him holding him until their breathing returned to normal. “That was incredible,” said Lucky rolling and pulling Elizabeth with him into a tight embrace.

Elizabeth sighed happily cuddling against Lucky. “No Elizabeth don’t you dare fall asleep right now or we will both be in trouble,” said Lucky sliding off the bed and pulling Elizabeth’s protesting frame with him. “We have to grab a shower and get dressed for the party.”

Quartermaine’s Residence:

Edward Quartermaine was pulled from his pensiveness by the sound of the doorbell ringing. He had been lost in thought over how he would handle the matter about Lucky.

After a night of tossing and turning, he had decided that his best course of action was to confront the person responsible for the futile search for Lucky’s parents all those years ago. “I have to learn the reason before I involve Lucky,” thought Edward.

Decision made, Edward walked out of his study and into the foyer smiling broadly at his arriving guests. “Commissioner, glad you and your lovely wife could make it,” said Edward, reaching out to shake the Commissioner’s hand.

Webber Residence:

Lucky waited impatiently for Martha, his personal assistant to answer her cell phone. He glanced nervously towards the bathroom door praying that Elizabeth would remain in the shower a few minutes longer.

“Martha, finally, what took you so long?” “I am so sorry Mr. Steele, room service was at the door.” “Ok, ok, never mind,” said Lucky excitedly. “Did you get what we talked about?” “Yes sir, I have it and I will be waiting to hand it to you at the party tonight.”

“Are you sure you got the correct one? The one I admired at the show last month and how about the size Martha, were you able to get the size I requested.”

“Mr. Steele, I promise you it’s the one you wanted. Don’t give it another thought, I have everything in order as you requested.”

“Thank you Martha, you are a life saver, as usual. I trust your flight was uneventful, seeing as I gave you no warning.” “It was fine sir, and I am glad you’ve included me.” I will see you at the party then Martha,” said Lucky hanging up, happy now that everything was falling into place.”

“Who’s Martha?”, asked Elizabeth circling Lucky’s waist from behind and pressing soft kisses all over his back. “Oh, Martha is my assistant, I was just making sure she got in ok,” answered Lucky relieved that she appeared to only have caught the tail end of his conversation.

Turning, Lucky reached down and enveloped Elizabeth in a tender embrace. “Do you have any idea how good it feels to hold you like this, knowing that I get to do this for the rest of our lives?”, asked Lucky pulling back and looking deeply into Elizabeth’s eyes.

“My thoughts exactly, Mr. Spencer and have I ever told you how incredible you look wearing only a towel?” “No, but don’t let me stop you,” smiled Lucky reaching down to capture Elizabeth’s upturned lips.

As Lucky began to deepen the kiss, Elizabeth pulled back and pushed him firmly away. “If we are ever going to make it to this party tonight, we’ve got to keep our hands off each other.”

Sighing Lucky nodded and released Elizabeth. Summoning all his strength, he took several deep breaths to stop his treacherous body from going into overdrive.

Elizabeth smiled seductively at Lucky, loving the effect she had on him. “I am going to dry my hair, you Mr. Spencer need to get dressed,” said Elizabeth disappearing into the bathroom.

“This is going to be a long night,” thought Lucky looking down at himself. “Down boy.”
