New Programs 2001 - 2002:

"Maple Syrup Making" -  early spring for Grades 1 and 2:
Student groups share a 1/2 hour in a Nature Walk, and a 1/2 hour
learning about how to collect and make tree sap into maple syrup.
Mr. Dan Buckley of Morrison shares his skills with the students
      of Whiteside County.

"Learning About Nature in Your Backyard" - This new pro
gram is aimed at using the natural neighborhoods around the
school as school grounds, parks, and natural areas as outdoor
classrooms.  In every community, there are available natural areas
close to the schools which will eliminate the costs and travel time
used in the typical field trip.  In addition, the classroom teacher
can continue use of this site for personal teaching goals.

"Raptors":  Owls, Eagles, Hawks - What they eat?  Where they
live?  Why they are so interesting . . . Guest speakers with
Raptors to visit your classroom and provide live raptors for
your students to see, hear, and discover more about nature.
