Band Starts Up with a Busy Month
BALTIMORE, MD - After the Marching Raven's usual start-up at the beginning of March, their first performance of the season was Baltimore's St. Patrick's Day Parade. Although Wendy's been a member of the band for nearly four years, she has never participated in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, and was anxious to see how it would turn out.
After knowing that last year's parade ended with the band marching around the block and being filmed playing "Danny Boy" for the upcoming movie, Ladder 49, this parade seemed a little anticlimatic. The band still played "Danny Boy" and the ever dear "Raven's Fight Song," but the parade was a bit longer than Wendy had expected, taking them down Charles Street and then turning onto Pratt Street. Ultimately, she still enjoyed the performance.
CANTON, MD - An unusual booking for the band this year was the Mid-Atlantic Greek Parade. The band lined up on a freeway prior to the parade, and it seemed to Wendy that the parade was almost finished before it began. This was almost a good thing for her, since she had a cold, and her nose was running faster than the band was marching! Not really, but she was not up to her usual chipper self, so she couldn't enjoy the performance as much as she would have liked to.
