Six Sigma Training

ATLANTA, GA - J.M. Huber sent Wendy to Atlanta for Six Sigma, Green Belt training. It started with a week in February, and concluded a month later with a week in March. The training was initially put together by Sigma Breakthough Technologies, Inc, but was modified by Huber personnel. The training was held at the DoubleTree Hotel, Atlanta-Galleria
Wendy was not able to attend the full first week of training, due to the excessive snowfall in Maryland the day before the training started. Her flight, initially scheduled for Sunday, was finally able to depart on Wednesday. Although she felt completely lost, she was able to learn Minitab software, and ate at a few nice restaurants while she was there: Houston's and the Thai Diner at Vinings.
The second week, Wendy did a little bit more planning. On Sunday, when she arrived in Atlanta, she ate at Joe's Crab Shack with some some classmates. Good crabs!! Monday evening, she went to Ray's on the River with her Havre de Grace counterparts. Ray's is on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, and had a beautiful location. Tuesday was Wendy's big night. She ate at Red Lobster by herself that night, but had tickets for a show, which she really enjoyed. Wednesday night was a group get-together with all of her classmates in the Industrial Division at Fogo de Chao. The food was terrific and Wendy stuffed herself. Thursday night, Wendy and her Havre de Grace classmates went to Sambuca for dinner. There was excellent jazz music there.
Friday, was quite eventful. All week, the class had been working, in teams, on a project on how to utilize the tools learned in the Six Sigma class in regards to building and designing a paper helicopter that would fly for a designated amount of time. Friday was the big competition, and Wendy's team won!! It was so exciting, since their presentation, which one of Wendy's teammates had worked on all night, had crashed. The teammate worked feverishly to try to reproduce the presentation while the other three teams gave their presentations. The presentation ended up going very well, and their helicopter flew closest to the desired time the most consistently. That afternoon, Wendy was able to see some sights, since she had a late flight that evening. She visited the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, which were small (compared to other gardens that Wendy had been to) and under construction, but had a great orchid hothouse. She then went downtown, got lost, but eventually found her way to Underground Atlanta, where she visited the Coca-Cola Museum. They had many types of drinks to try from around the world made by the Coca-Cola Company, and the most shocking one Wendy tried was Lychee Mello, from Thailand. It actually tasted like lychee! She had lunch at Johnny Rockets, and then made her way to the airport.
