Magick.

Most Pagans in
general today are finding that they are shying away from the
practice of Spells, divination, astral travel and things that
would exclusively be classed under Magick, but what is Magick?
I can't say that my beliefs on Magick are universal, but here
are my thoughts on it.
Magick to me is
both the Creator and the Creation. It is the seed that is
given light and water and then grows to become the plant.
The Light and Water was the Creator and the Creation was the
plant. But the seed was the potential, and potential is the
source of all Magick, the source of Life. So to me Magick
equates to Life, Life essence is Magick.
When we are using
the tarot or the rune stones what are we doing, we are tapping
into that Universal flow of energy that is not restricted
to any illusion of measured time so knows past, present and
future, we channel the energy into the cards and stones that
then present the outcomes, the past and the present. What
Universal energy we have tapped into is Magick. When
we cast a Spell we are doing the same but channeling the energy
into our own personal reflection of life, and we use colours,
herbs, candles and tools to help us focus on and concentrate
specific energies into manifestation. A lot of New Age ideologies
and Wiccan traditions try to tell us that as Witches and Pagans
we should only approve and use light and positive magick.
I disagree with that entirely, that would be like accepting
only half a person and neglecting the rest.
Magick is not
a perfect form of anything, it is what our minds will it to
be, what our minds reflect on it to be. So Magick is not black
or white, it is both, frankly it is an easy excuse to class
it under either title. Life is like that to, black and white,
dark and light, negative and positive, ying and yang, chaos
and cosmos, but that's not to say the ying energies are not
something to acknowledge or learn from, or can't benefit us.
We are using negative
magick any time we are banishing something, harnessing the
power of negative energies to eat away an energy that might
be intruding on us and our safety, so when you work towards
getting rid of something you are tuning your frequency to
the dark energies, to the chaos. It is only when we acknowledge
the dark in life that we can truly appreciate the light.
You might be thinking
but black is evil and wrong, wouldn't that offend those of
coloured skin? The racial connotations are perverted delusions
of some racist bigot who surely thought that anything opposing
the colour white was evil and dark and so that's how that
myth most probably arose. You might also be wondering why
the hell I think chaos could be at all positive or for anyone's
or anything's benefit. The concept of chaos and cosmos energies
is one that is shared between many Pagans. Both have positive
outcomes and the best way to explain it is to give an exmaple.
Cosmos energy takes advantage of the potential of the seed
and feeds it with just what it needs to grow, and then years
later the tree decays away with help of the Chaos energy,
so without Cosmos you wouldn't have the birth of a tree and
without Chaos you would have too many trees so that it would
seem immortal and Earth would soon become very cramped. A
Human being could also be used as an example, Cosmos siezes
the opportunity at the point of conception so that there is
no a fertilized egg within the woman's womb. It is born it
gets older and finally dies, it is Chaos that eventually kills
the human and Chaos that decomposes the corpse back to the
environment. We'd have a pretty over-populated place without
Chaos wouldn't we, and we wouldn't have population at all
without Cosmos.
These two forces
must be kept in balance because they make up Life, when the
scales are tipped things like wars begin to happen, and humans
people to exploit nature. Just like Magick, Life must be balanced
too. So both are composed of each other, Magick is Life and
life is Magick, the point we have reached is that their are
no opposites anymore, just varied energies that co-exist and
are the same but may be recognised and divided by our own
lack of knowledge or preconceptions. Life is Magick and Magick
is Life, enjoy your Life because it is the gift of Magick
and enjoy your Magick because it is the gift of Life.
