SPRING WORK-IN, April 30th – May 8th 2005
A chance to help with restoration and maintenance of the Corn Windmill. The mill is absolutely reliant on volunteers for its continued survival in working order. You don't have to be a skilled millwright, our basic requirement is just common sense and a wish to help.

This time we will be concentrating on:

  • Completing the flour dressing machine, for turning wholemeal into white flour.
  • Work on the 2nd set of millstones, to bring them towards working order.
  • Refurbishing paintwork on the sails. We realise that a head for heights is needed for this: safety harness to be worn!
  • For those wishing to stay on 'terra firma', we need to re-paint the mill doors and window frames, and sail shutters will be brought down for refurbishing.
  • Begin the rebuilding of the mill’s wood shed, so that sails can be repaired under cover. The rebuild will start with digging holes for the 8 main uprights.
  • Wind permitting, there will be opportunities to learn to operate the windmill.

This work-in will conclude with National Mills Weekend on May 7th-8th - Details

LATE SUMMER WORK-IN, August 20st - 29th 2005

We will continue the work started in May. We look forward to seeing volunteer helpers, those who have been before and new 'apprentice millwrights'.
