I have been studying the Maya help files and related Internet sites since the beginning of the year. 3D is a strong interest of mine, and I spend a lot of time familiarizing myself with it.

Another program, which I have taken an interest in, is After Effects. I consider it nearly dead center between 3D and PhotoShop (which I have been using since ’99). I have already combined my knowledge of panoramic stitching with this video program, and made video panoramas.

The basis behind these and many others of my interests are fueled and sustained by my fascination with imagery and the sense of vision. Interpreting light. I love photography. A good photograph can easily take as much effort as capturing motion footage. Sure lighting can be easier, being able to use flashes the weigh so much less, but timing, and creating that atmosphere… or how about wild photography? – It’s potentially even more difficult there, can’t just set it up once nicely and let it run.

Photography I think has the ability, and perhaps even obligation to look better than video (i.e. motion footage). That’s because a single picture has to provoke the imagination of a viewer to animate possibilities, as well as sustain appeal for often an equal amount of time.

My interest and knowledge in photography has branched to video and 3D, but it is photography that is still the core, and stronger because of it.
