Symbols of the Clan Campbell

Forget not the deeds of your forefathers.

This is the unofficial family crest of the Campbell's.  This one is one of the many that the Campbell's use for acknowledgement of the family.  There is also another one that is internationally accepted. That on is similar to this one and has a chain running around the edge.

 
 

During the beginning of the Clan Campbell they came up with this badge to show those that were of the same Clan. 

The saying on this badge is the motto for the different branches for the Clan Campbell.

1. For the Campbell's of Argyll. This  means FORGET NOT.

2. For the Campbell's of Breadalbane. This means FOLLOW ME.

3. For the Campbell's of Cawdor. This means BE MINDFUL.

4. For the Campbell's of Loudoun. This means I BYDE MY TIME.                     

 The Slogan or the War Cry  is CRUACHUAN (pronounced : CROO a han),( name of a mountain in Loch Awe). From the opposing mountain that dominates the northern end of Loch Awe, overlooking the original lands of the Campbell's of Argyll.

Sweet Gale is Bog Myrtle. This highly aromatic shrub can be used to make the most delightful wine!  Roid (Wild Myrtle) or Garbhag an t-sleibhe (Fir Club Moss)

The Clan Plant badge is the Bog Myrtle, Wild Myrtle, and the Fir Club Moss.
