PROGRESS PICS…
Well, since this was going to be an
‘evolution’ of the EVO5 bumper that was on the car before, I made half first…
to see what it would look like.
To get this
far is not a simple job my friend… as you can see below…
Oh
Oh, man this
picture really hurts to see…
I had no
choice but to cut a bigger hole to fit the Grandia headlamps that I already
ordered.
But it’s ok,
you can’t see it after the lamp is in.
Ok, this picture shows the reason why you
need to cut into the metal…
The arrow
points to the problem. This part of the
headlamp goes into deeper into the body. If you want Grandia style lights, this
is what you have to do…
To take the headlamp out, you need
disassemble the air cleaner housing and all its related parts. For the first
time I had a look at the intake port that the engine has to suck air from,
before the air-filter. Look how small this hole is! I think you can improve
performance by making a bigger hole…
I wanted my Grandia lights to look
different, so I decided to cover some of the lights with some ‘eye lids’.
To make it
special I make it one piece with the bonnet and grille. So everything lifts up
with the ‘kap mesin’.
SL500 style…
After I made the grille, I then made the
‘eye lids’ and integrate together…
Putting the
cover on top does not affect light output. I plan to put HID H7’s to it. Shit…
more money.
This KUDA
will make me bankrupt.
This side on picture gives you a better
view of the bumper design. The EVO5 bumper never had side holes like this.
As you can
see the ‘chin’ of the bumper is much lower than my previous and is now further
forward… make it look more ‘ceper’.
By the way,
to install Grandia lights, you need to rewire, because the electrical fittings
are different. So expect a bit of work to do. But I think it’s worth it.
The rear
section of this bumper is not finished yet…
