New Choreographers Competition

Twelve new and emerging choreographers create personal statements of their choreographic vision in the solo-duet form for this choreography competition. The winner receives the Wi_Fi NeXtage Award in acknowledgement of the support of thee Japan Foundation Manila for this competition.

Competing are NINA HAYUMA HABULAN, STEPHEN BIADOMA, ROBBIE HAYDEN, RUDOLPH SEGUNDO, CARLON MATOBATO, HORHE AMPARADO, CHRIS NOCON, AVA MAUREEN VILLIANUEVA, JETHRO PIOQUINTO, OLIVER PALAD, HERBERT ALVAREZ and JEREMY DE LA CRUZ. In the spirit of nurturing new talent, the competition ends with the Wi_Fi Body Emerging Talent Showcase where the winners of the competition will be announced. The showcase features the UP Dance Company, the Quezon City Ballet, STEPS Dance Studio, Lyceum Dance Troupe, Neo-nescas Company, Teatro Baile de Cavilte, TEAM, Marikina City Ballet Theater and the Philippine High School for the Arts.

wi_fi body festival derives from WDA-Philippines Contemporary Dance Map Project , held annually for International Dance Day at independent artist run performance spaces. An initiative of World Dance Alliance-Philippines Choreographers Network with the support of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and the Japan Foundation Manila
