Canes

Each stick is completely handmade.  The head of the stick is made from deer antler because it is denser than other types of antler.  It is hand carved into whatever shape is desired.  I have carved things including a variety of falcons, flowers (see picture), a dragon, etc.  My specialty is the Bald Eagle.  The natural antler color usually lends itself to that form.  To create an eye for the eagles I imbed a shaped piece of black walnut in the proper location.  Because this is my specialty, the eagle canes are offered at a discounted price.

The stick itself is made from a variety of hardwoods, some local, mostly exotic.  Some of the available woods are:

Red Cedar (Tennessee)

Birch and Spaulded Birch (US)

Maple (Northwestern US)

Purple heart (African)

Coco Bolo (Mexican)

Pao Ferro (Brazilian Iron Wood)

Padauk  (African)

Zebra Wood (African)

Tulip Wood (African)

 Rosewood (West Indian)

Mun Ebony (African)

Black Walnut (American)

These woods are hand turned (without a lathe) to get the illusion of a twist and

meticulously sanded to remove any imperfections.

The wood and the handle are connected by a 5/16” lag bolt and Epoxy.  They are guaranteed never to come apart or break under normal use.  When finished they are coated with a high grade moisture resistant lacquer similar to that used to finish cars.  Then the cane is tipped with a rubber grip. A strand of leather (your choice of color) is then placed near the top.  Prices will vary from piece to piece depending on the wood used, but will range between $80 and $150.  Base price for Eagles are $80, and they’re never more than $90.  We can discuss pricing for custom orders.
