knives

Knives offer a much broader range of possibility.  I can do full handle knives or slabs.  Full handles can be carved in either the end (similar to the canes), or on the side.  As with the canes I integrate tracks along with the animal.  For horses I’ll do horseshoes, for wolves, they get a paw print, etc. On slab handle knives, I can usually only carve on the sides (unless you have other ideas for me to try).

The low end knives will cost less than $100 including a sheath, and possibly as little as $80 for an eagle.  The blades for these are made of 440 Surgical Stainless steel and they have “WINCHESTER” etched on one side.  The sheath is black nylon with a snap.

The higher quality knives are made from Damascus steel and will range from $150 to $500 depending on the size of the blade and complexity of the order.

For those who aren’t familiar with Damascus, it is a type of steel used in ancient Samurai swords.  Damascus is hand forged by layering different types of steel alloys to get the best qualities of all alloys.  Crusaders in the middle ages feared Damascus because of its strength, flexibility, and ability to hold an edge.  Look closely at the pictures provided and you’ll notice a grain or layer pattern in the steel.  It is a beautiful steel and is worth every penny.

My Damascus steel is hand forged and can also be custom made in basically any shape or size you can draw.  Figure $100 for the handle and sheath, and add about $25 per inch of blade length for a rough estimate of cost.  If you just want the blade or the blade and some antler slabs to make your own knife, it will be less than that.  We can do almost anything you would like.  Just ask.
