| I awoke today, September 13, 2001, to see sunshine streaming through my bedroom window across the Amtrak bike box waiting there. Waiting for a month now. Waiting for my mother’s health to improve before I take a leave of absence from reality. These last three-days of terror seem far from reality, a place in time from which we would all wish to awaken from only a bad dream. Today’s travel news was of closed airlines and crowded trains. Another obstacle. I can plan, but can I ever leave? Yes! A memorial ride from Oklahoma City to the Pentagon. |
