| Route 60 Memorial Ride Journals Friday, October 19, 2001 Friday Shoppers Central City to Hodgenville — Crossed into Eastern Time today, rode past Bill Monroe's home of blue grass music and on into Leitchfield's Friday-afternoon-shopping madness. The traffic was so bad I had retreated to walking the sidewalk when, you guessed it, a man standing beside a pickup stopped me and began talking bicycling. Carl, my age, had recently started bicycling and is planning a cross-country ride on Bicycle Route 76 in ’03. He advised me that Route 62 only got worse, suggested I get on the back roads of KY Bicycle Route 76, and took me a few miles down there. Bike Route 76 in Kentucky has no signs to mark the route. I've been told Virginia has the best signs and the worst roads. It's true. |
