Rain Day

   Stillwater to Sand Springs
— I have lost the pictures From Stillwater to Missouri. I didn’t take many as it rained those days. On day one I suffered two flat tires, blowouts actually—so hung around Stillwater waiting to purchase a new tire, then headed out in the rain.
In spite a driving rain in a 30-mph wind (sometimes gusting so I couldn’t stay on the bike), it was a beautiful ride across the Osage Hills.
Crossing the Cimarron River I heard a ping followed by rubbing brakes. The rear wheel rim had split from brake wear, but the new fat tire held on. I deflated the tire some and released the rear brakes so the shoes would pass the bulge in the rim and rode on to the Sand Springs Days Inn (passed on by the campground) and spent the evening drying out.
