Route 60 Memorial Ride Journals Monday, October 8, 2001 The Sendoff Piedmont to Stillwater — The sendoff from Piedmont even included a newspaper interview. Again the Cornelius were the best. On to Guthrie and Stillwater, an ambitious first full day of riding. |
The Bible Baptist Church in Guthrie, OK. This memorial was featured on the front page of the Richmond Times Dispatch. I left them a copy of the paper. Notice how a 30 mph wind can hold out a flag. With the wind at my back I was doing 20 mph and hardly pedaling. But riding with the wind from the side was difficult. So far I haven't faced a head wind like this. Good reason to ride west to east. |

The residents around here had complained about potholes one too many times. The county ripped up the pavement and produced a pothole free dirt road. So the story goes. |
