| Hi! My name is Wilna van Eyssen and I am South African. I grew up in a small town called Virginia with my family and 2 younger sisters, Andrea & Bernadine. Currently, all my family live in South Africa. | |||||||||||||||||||
| I went to Primary school & high school in Virginia and after high school, I moved to Pretoria where I studied Library & Information Science for 3 years at the Pretoria Technikon. During this time I was also a member of the Rondomtalies, a student group consisting of approximately 25 members that travelled around the country doing singing & dancing performances in theatres, schools & various concert halls. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Once I graduated, I left for Belgium to work as an AuPair with a family. Unfortunately I did not stay for the full period of 1 year and was back in South Africa after 3 months. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Determination made me leave South Africa once again in early 1995. This time I decided to try my luck in the United Kingdom. I stayed for 2 years working as a Personal Assistant for an International Company. After this I left to do a world trip for 8 months. During this time I spent 3 months in India, a few weeks in Nepal, a few months in Europe, the USA, New Zealand and Australia. I returned home at the end of October '97 after being away for nearly 3 years. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Six months later I decided that settling was not quite what I had in mind, and I took off once again for Europe, visiting friends along the way. I found myself in Boston, USA for the summer and loved every minute of the most cultural & european city in the US. Then it was time to meet up with old friends in Europe once again, back to the US for a few weeks, and back to Europe for Christmas and New Year. | |||||||||||||||||||
| I have been around the world 3 times now, visiting friends and seeing new destinations every time I go. I met my partner, Drew, when I travelled through New Zealand the second time around. We have been together since we met 4 years ago and he is currently in South Africa with me. Currently we are studying for our TEFL certificates which will enable us to travel and work in Asia. If all goes well, we will be leaving on the 25th September 2002 for the US to have a visit there as Drew has never been there before. |
