Scrip Cards


Scrip cards would show how much scrip (credit) a miner had accumulated while working. These could be redeemed for scrip if this was desired. The scrip in Whitby was cut at the Company Store. A set of Sterling Smokeless scrip from Whitby is also available. here or you can also see Bowyer Smokeless Scrip, the first operation at Whitby, here. The Scrip cards below were used in Whitby and could be redeemned at the Sterling Smokeless Coal Co store. I had to date never seen these from Whitby before.
