Miss Mouse's Garden

By Ruth

Well folks, I've decided to plant a garden this year after all. I guess that tells you I'd given up on the proposition at some point. OK...so I changed my mind. what changed my mind? (you might not even wonder), but you see it was this little artichoke plant that reappeared in my old garden.(I transplanted it into my new garden). I thought it had died with everything else last year. Listen to this--after months of nourishing that plot of land my bell pepper plants were only six inches high, the potatoes were slightly larger than a kiwi and I got so sick of squash that I ended up using it as decorations! I rationalized that it was the foggy weather that seemed to last ALL SUMMER. I still use that, as a matter-of-fact. But now let's go back a few years ago (you senior-moments people know this as reminiscing) when my corn was twelve feet tall before it began to tassle, my red pontiac potatoes were at least one pound each, and the tahitian melon (or squash if you prefer) grew four and five feet long. I had so many onions, carrots and beefsteak tomatos I didn't know what to do with them. I was giving away produce left and right. So, maybe THAT is what is REALLY motivating me. Gardening is really about giving. You labor for months on end, canning and freezing, and... giving so much of it away. There's this really great big feeling you get doing this crazy tradition. And I LOVE  it--sunburns, rashes and all!

Personal Achievements of the month

Ryan had quite an experience getting his hair straightened this month.  You can click *here* to view a scrapbook of pictures pertaining to the event.

Rachel got her hair cut.  To see a picture, click *here*.  Make sure to check this picture out because it will only be available on this site until next month.

Reid has done nothing except waste brain activity on computer games.

Roxanna is currently crocheting something that mildly resembles a scarf.  I'll make sure to post a picture of it once it's completed.

 Ruth started a garden!

Rebecca aced all of her midterm exams and is now enjoying Spring Break.

Besides renaming the cat, Rodney also FINALLY fixed the girl's bathroom door!  It's a miracle I tell you!     To find out what he renamed the cat, please email him at rfam9@msn.com.  I'm sure he'd love to tell each of you individually :)

Reanna had a dream for the first time in months! It was about kitties that looked like stuffed animals.  They lived in San Diego and they went in Jacuzzis and pools.  And for some odd reason they acted like Tarzan.

Rosi started reading "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone" this month.

Made in Aguanga, California, USA
