Detached premises, Eighteenth
Century. Saddle-backed roof above the core, connecting above the front and
rear galleries. Roofs covered with red Old Dutch pantiles.
The buildings are of general
interest because of the folkloristic value and the typical Curaçao plan
with a core and galleries at the front and rear. Also of considerable
importance is the ensemble value of the dwellings and the quality of the
exterior area (alleys) and courtyards. The restoration and renovation
programme also involved the social-cultural dimension. Restoration of the
premises: 1990 and the years thereafter. In 1990 an architectural contest
for that area has resulted in a recent contemporary fill in of open
spaces, created by demolishment or neglect of the decennia before.
