Here are some pictures of my
first trip to Hungary, which took place from August 5, 2001 to King Stephen's Day of the same year
(August 20). I was in Debrecen most of the time, which is in Northeastern Hungary, in
the great plain. Debrecen is the second largest city in Hungary, after
Budapest and before Miskolc. My favorite Hungarian fact? Well,
little known is the fact that America was effectively named after a Hungarian,
King Imre (son of King Stephen) who was Amerigo Vespucci's namesake.
I have used small, low-resolution, quick-loading photos for my foreign friends. Click on the button below the small, thumbnail photos that you would like to
see, and a separate browser window will appear with a big picture and a caption. Most of the
pictures were taken with a SONY DSC-70 digital camera by an unskilled
photographer (me), using the lowest possible resolution. Some pictures were sent to me by friends from
Debrecen, and I scanned them in to my computer with
my HP ScanJet 3200C scanner, and cropped them and removed redeye.
