Of all the schools I've been to, I take the most pride in Tubingen University,
Villanova and my high school (St. Peter's Preparatory
School). I had a double major in English and German from Holy Cross,
whence I graduated with a B.A. Junior year abroad was spent in Tubingen
studying philosophy, however -- where Schelling, Holderlin and Hegel also
studied (among other lesser known but just as important Germans).
Immediately thereafter, I spent a semester working on an unfinished Masters in philosophy at
Villanova, where I had the great privilege of studying with John Caputo, Walter
Brogan and John Tich, rest in peace. I accepted a fellowship to Emory University in
Atlanta for their philosophy Ph.D. program, however, and spent two years there
studying phenomenology.
I left Emory with a so-called A.B.D. degree
("all but dissertation"), largely for political reasons, and
reassessed my goals, deciding to leave the ivory tower behind and enter the
business world. I have finished an MBA in accounting at Fairleigh Dickinson University and got my CPA designation.
My next step? Maybe an MS in Taxation or a JD. I've pretty much studied the whole gamut
of Geisteswissenschaften. Right now, I've developed an interest in Eastern/Central European
history, linguistics and culture that I'm trying to find time to explore.
