As discussed in my article on the canon, my chronology for the adventures of "Doctor Who" breaks from the series after "Survival". Now, you're more than welcome to send in stories for any Doctor of your choice (including Peter Cushing), but you can, and are encouraged, to send in stories for the alternative eighth Doctor.
As far as physical appearance is concerned, you can take a rough guide from the image of me on the third of the OUSFG Christmas Party images, given that the eighth Doctor is physically based on me. Costume consists of shirt and dark trousers, black or brown shoes, vulgar tie, even more vulgar waistcoat and, for early stories a blue or red opera cloak and grey fedora hat, for later stories a navy trenchcoat. He also sometimes carries, but never needs, a walking stick. In later stories he may sport a "St John's College: Oxford" scarf (black with red and yellow stripes). Now, characters:
EARLY STORIES
The Doctor is in a new incarnation. At a first glance he seems to have lost all the manipulative qualities of his previous incarnation. Owing to very unusual circumstances at the time of his recent regeneration, which will be available on this site very soon, he is still extremely unstable although less so that he likes others to think. He oscillates between a foolish clowning demeanour, where he seems to rarely even make sense, although always has a method in his madness, to a dark, broodingly vicious personality, who will snipe at anyone who disturbs his reverie. These phases of bitterness can explode into occasional and almost slapstick, yet none the less horrifying violence. He also has a fondness for, at the most inopportune moments, practising "silly walks". Although it would be innacurate to describe him as having "an eye for the ladies", he is an incorrigible flirt at times, just like all his predecessors, and has an unfortunate penchant for attempting to charm females whose co-operation he needs with a charm he really doesn't possess.
Robert Falcon is a genetically altered former Dalek slave from a planet called "Dalek Tri-Gamma Delta". He was originally given the serial number AK-47. Somewhat in tune with the "whining companion" stereotype, he is sometimes surprising for his hard, almost brutal edge when under pressure.
LATER STORIES
The Doctor is now nine years into his new incarnation, and has stabilised. He still bears the physical (a vertical slash on his right cheek) and mental scars of the horrific things he experienced and did during the interim. However, partly because of the influence of his new companions, with both of whom he gets on extremely well, he has regained a more cheerful aspect. He is no longer such a clown as before, although usually has an ego-deflating quip to mock his latest enemy's mad scheme, or even the innocent suggestions of his friends. Now at least though, he no longer has any malice in those which are directed towards friends and companions. He has a tendency to give lectures in answer to questions, often at the least convenient times:
i.e. Companion: What's that huge rock rolling towards us?
Doctor: Well, you see, Michel... what did you say? LEGGIT!!!
He is open and friendly, and despite his youthful appearance, frequently adopts the conversational mode of the voice of experience and has the mannerisms of a much older man. A kind man.
Michel de Gris-Nez is, despite the name, only half French. He hails from Guernsey, in the Channel Islands, and is by profession a private detective. Aware and, sadly, amused by all the old and unfunny cliches of his profession (he rather likes to introduce himself as "de Gris-Nez, Michel de Gris-Nez, Private Eye" Michel is none the less a rather good detective, who tends to get lumbered with rather silly cases. He gets on very well with the Doctor and Gwen, for whom it is undeniable that he carries a torch. They fell in love in an alternate universe, and so are unsure where they stand with one another here. However, neither is willing to let this slight uncertainty interfere with their warm friendship.
Guinevere "Gwen" Tenebres was a student of the Doctor during his second exile to Earth. She feels for Michel as he feels for her, and as mentioned neither are willing to let it spoil their friendship. There is absolutely no "unresolved sexual tension" between them- they both know that there is an issue which they could confront one day, but neither are in any hurry. Gwen is extremely intelligent, and rather similar in character to a toned down Doctor- full of zest for the future, always, if I may quote "wanting to see what's on t'other side of the hill". She will never be a "moaning companion"; if the Doctor gets them into trouble she is as likely to relish the challenge of getting them out of it as much as he is. She has a very slight touch of passive telepathy (she is aware of the TARDIS transmitting the 'gift of language' when they materialise, for example, and an occasionally uncanny insight.
