Mt Solitary - Blue Mountains
The impressive north walls of Mt Solitary, with the mighty Solitary Corner (100m 22M2) sticking out like dogs balls in the middle of the upper cliffline. Believe it or not, you can also see Sydney City on the horizon in this view (just to the left of the closer cliffs, though it's too hazy to come out in photos).
A view from Ruined Castle across the beautiful Jamison Valley back towards Sublime Point / Leura (on the left) and Kedumba and the Kings Tableland (centre and right).
Just for the record, these photos was taken on 28/5/00 - which astute minds will recall as the day a massive snowstorm hit the Blue Mountains, shutting the Western Highway. Needless to say, we retreated from the summit of Mt Solitary rather rapidly, literally running back to Narrowneck (a few kms!), in howling gales and in the face of an approaching snowstorm, only to return to our tent, which naturally enough had been shredded by the wind - we were lucky it was still there at all!
