Royal Arches

Royal Arches on the left, Half Dome obscured at the top, and Glacier Point on the right. We got used to views like this....
Royal Arches, Half Dome, Glacier Point

But thankfully we had some nice days too!

A view from Five Open Books, with Royal Arches at bottom centre, Church Bowl at bottom left, North Dome in profile at top left, and Half Dome at top right.
Church Bowl

A front on view of Serenity Crack / Sons of Yesterday (*** 5.10d), from the Ahwahnee parking lot. Starts at bottom right and follows the worn cracks all the way to top left of shot.
Cracks baby!

A side on view showing the nice slabby angle of Royal Arches. Serenity Crack / Sons of Yesterday (*** 5.10d) follows the leftmost sunlit part of the slabs, left of the major waterfall/cascade. The Regular Route (*** 5.7) starts up the major right leaning ramp, then heads up and back left to the rim.
and the awesome steepness of the NW face of Half Dome!!

.

.

A closer view of the Regular Route (*** 5.7). It follows the major right leaning ramp (gushing with water during heavy snowmelt :(( ), then heads up and back left to the rim.
not a spring crag :((

The centre and right side of Royal Arches during what became a normal spell of weather. Regular Route climbs up just right of the smaller cascade, then heads up to the very top left of this shot to top out near the major cascade.
not a spring crag :((

A view of the right hand end of Royal Arches (at bottom left), with Washington Column in profile on the right, and North Dome at top left.

And now for another angle of Royal Arches and Half Dome:
