Yosemite Valley
The Word: Mindblowing.
Style of Climbs: Granite slabs, faces, cracks, aid routes and bouldering.
The Details: One place every climber must get to at least once in their lives. And don't visit just the Valley - Tuolumne Meadows is also great.
Access: Drive, from the W via Oakdale, from the S via Fresno, or from the E via Bishop.
I haven't spent all that long down in the Valley but it's definitely an incredible place. The bummer is that the cliffs, which are HUGE, are in fact dwarfed by the size of the crowds....uurgh. But a brief hike off the beaten track allows you to escape the hordes.
A view of The Valley from the Highway 41 Wawona tunnel view lookout. El Cap on the left, Half Dome at the back, and Bridalveil Falls hammering down.
And another version of the photo that every tourist to Yosemite must have taken. This time it's late summer and the waterfalls had finished.
