About
Me
Welcome!
First, a little bit about me. I live in Los Angeles, CA where I slave
away at a tiresome (well, it's not soooo bad) day job and dream one day
of being a professional writer.
I didn't see an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer until the summer
before the fourth season. I finally gave in to a friend's incessant
pressure, and gave it a chance. At the time, I was looking for a spec
script to write and she thought that BtVS might be a good one for me to
try. She gave me some
background on the show and characters then loaned me a tape of
"Helpless". Wow.... Then, as fate would have it,
"Dopplegangland" was the on the next day and sufficed to say,
I was hooked.
I borrowed several tapes, trying to catch up. (I still haven't seen all
of the episodes.) It didn't take long for me to fall for Giles. (I don't
really need to elaborate on why, do I? *g*) And I loved the rapport he
had with Willow. Quickly, she became the one I identified with the most.
While I wasn't exactly a geek in high school, I related to her sense of
self (or lack there of) and her love of learning. I saw her as a quiet
leader.. compassionate and deceptively strong... Much like Giles. I
loved the paradox
of her vulnerability and bravery... and saw a tenderness in the way she
and Giles related to each other.
Then... I discovered fanfiction. Having already fallen for Giles and
relating to Willow, it wasn't much of a stretch that I latched onto the
pairing. I loved the vicarious thrill of sharing adventures with them.
Quickly, I was a fanfic addict!
I've never read horror or romance novels. I'm an avid reader, but for
some reason, both of those genres never appealed to me... and now, here
I was immersed in them both.
It took me several months before I gathered up the courage to write my
first fic. I've always written, but hadn't written prose since I was in
grammar school (I'd been writing screenplays and the like.). So, the
transition to narrative fiction scared me to death. But, eventually, I
bit the bullet and wrote a sappy piece of purple prose. Some very
generous souls gave me feedback and the fire was lit. (I wonder if those
people rue the day that
they unleashed the ficcing monster I was to become! *g*)
And so, here we are... many, many pages later.
I realize that the pairing of Willow and Giles doesn't seem obvious to
many people, but I hope you might give it a chance. In my stories, I've
always tried to keep all of the characters close to the canon of the
show. Obviously, Willow and Giles are not an item, so some liberties
have been taken.
Regardless, I hope you find the stories interesting and the characters
true.
Enjoy!
