J.T. Edson describes a Floating Outfit as a group of
cowhands who travel the outer sections of ranchland dealing with problems that occurr far
from the main house. Dusty Fog, The Ysabel Kid and Mark Counter make up the Floating
Outfit at the OD Connected Ranch, and they travel far and wide punching cows and righting
wrongs in the old West. Floating
Outfit titles have been published by various publishers in the United States including
Bantam, Dell, Charter and Berkley. They are rousing adventures but they also feature
interesting historic detail. They are dappled with footnotes that highlight the
intricacy of the series and the family lines of the characters. Recent titles are
available from Amazon. Many are out of print but they are often on hand in used bookstores
or in web auctions. |
