Floor Finish

Floor Paint and Garage Carpet, from Griot's Garage

Griot's supplies very good instructions with their paint. Here are my comments on what things I did that were not exactly as they stated to do.

#1) I did have some small areas where some oil had spilled on my bare floor. I cleaned them with lacquer thinner as the instructions say, but then i just washed them with soap. I did not use TSP cleaner.

#2) I did the etching myself, even though the instructions say its a two person job.

#3) 1 gallon of muriatic acid was enough for my 18 X 22 garage.

#4) During etching i wore sneakers, not rubber boots.

#5) I did not use a high pressure washer after etching. I waited a day for the floor to dry and then brushed it with a broom & leaf blower.

#6) 4 gallons of paint was enough for my garage. If i was careful i could probably have done the second coat in 1 gallon, instead of 2.

#7) I didnt use a power stirrer for the paint. I mixed it by hand for 3 minutes.

#8) I am not sure what kind of roller i used, it was just a normal roller for house walls.

I was very hesitant about doing this, but it looks great and is very easy to keep clean!

Gris likes the floor

And so does Cassie

The carpet keeps me from slipping when the floor is wet and soapy
