Tailwheel FixThe tailwheel on the stock 'taildragger' aircraft in CFS2 is set to turn through 180 degrees. This makes the aircraft unrealistically unstable when taxiing and manoeuvering on the ground or on the deck of an aircraft carrier. This can be fixed with a minor change to the aircraft.cfg file so that the tailwheel can only turn through a maximum of 60 degrees. This makes it far easier to control your aircraft on the ground. It is still more than possible to ground loop your 'ride' if you are heavy-handed and taxing still requires careful use of throttle and brakes, but it should at least cut down on all of those 360-degree pirouettes... ;-) This fix was based on jackkelso_11's posting to the 'Official Combat Flight Simulator Site' MSN Group Message Board (requires .NET passport for entry) and all credit is due to his ingenuity and skill in identifying how to make the necessary changes. All I have done is implement his recommendation. The files in the download provided below consist of modified aircraft.cfg files for all of the relevant stock CFS2 aircraft. Simply replace your aircraft.cfg files with these to apply the tailwheel fix. Note: These files do not modify or in anyway enhance the flight performance of your aircraft. Aircraft using the this fix are not prevented from entering restricted games on the Zone and will still pass Fair Skies authentification. The intention in providing this fix is purely to correct what appears to have been an error in Microsoft's original implementation of this aspect of the stock aircraft. Gunsight Calibration package (plus GPS & autopilot)In stock CFS2 aircraft, the convergence point of the bullets is a little low in relation to the gunsight when viewed in cockpit view. This can be changed so that the bullets converge slap bang in the middle of the gunsight by editing the aircraft's panel.cfg file. This download contains re-calibrated panel.cfg files for all stock CFS2 aircraft. Full advice on how to install these files and make further adjustments is included. Download the file, unzip it to your desktop and follow the instructions in the read-me. All credit to TekWorm for first describing this fix - see http://216.234.169.149/~outhouse/tektips.html CFS2 GPS and autopilot gauges are also included in this package - simply add them to your Combat Flight Simulator 2/Gauges folder and use the panel files provided to make use of these gauges in your aircraft. Note: These files do not modify the guns themselves, nor will they in anyway enhance the performance of your aircraft. Aircraft using the re-calibrated gunsights provided here will not be prevented from entering restricted games on the Zone and will still pass Fair Skies authentification.
