"I call heaven and earth today to witness against you.  I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.

Choose life . . ."  (Deut 30: 19)

Dear Friends of Life:

In 1969, the Liberal Government of Pierre Trudeau passed the infamous "therapeutic abortion law", DRAMATICALLY OPENING UP ACCESS TO ABORTION.  In 1988, the Supreme Court of Canada took abortion out of the Criminal Code, making it LEGAL FOR ALL NINE MONTHS of pregnancy.

Since then, it has been proven over and over again that "ALL THAT IS NECESSARY FOR EVIL TO FLOURISH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING."

APATHY is the most frightening enemy the unborn and other vulnerable people can have.  So apathy is what we have to confront and defeat.

INDIFFERENCE is a difficult issue to overcome.  It takes much sustained and hard-hitting effort to shake the apathetic out of a comfortable "someone else will handle it" outlook on the sanctity of life.  Complacency has no place in our communities when human life is at stake.

The Pro-Life committee at Holy Cross supports organizations in Regina like Teen-Aid, Serena Saskatchewan, Pregnancy Counseling Centre and Birthright.  Over the next few months, we will profile these organizations for your information.  Our committee is presently in need of someone to be a liaison to these organizations.  The duties would simply be to correspond with each of them by mail and phone to keep our committee updated on their needs.  Call Cheri MacFarlane: 522-1985 if you are interested.

Monthly meetings held at St. Matthew's Anglican Church have resulted in a "Team Support Project" for five First Nations people: Barbara, Jerry-Lynn, Jamie, Billy and Phelina. Part of the support comes from their church family, which for Jamie and Phelina is Holy Cross and for Barbara and Jerry-Lynn is Living Water Church.  Encouragement to support their participation in education and work will be ongoing.  Any fundraising undertaken will be done by everyone involved in the project.
