Zen the way of perfection
By: Mehran Movallali
Zen has been made of combination of two orient philosophical schools:
(Taoism) and (Buddhism). Buddhism has been created by an indian prince named
"sidhartagutama". Budda is indeed a name of the tree that the mentioned prince
has been meditating under that for 6 years till got intuition. Later on the
founder and new school have been named Budda. Budda presented particular teachings
to self-recognition and perfection that its main elements are meditation exercises.
For instance: Buddhism emphasises on man must restrict wishes and desires as possible
as he (or she) can. Because as many as man's goals and wishes are fewer, much the same,
man will get more mental calmness. Tao school Founder is "Lao Tzu" the great chinese
philosopher and emphasises on nature mostly. ("Tao" word is chinese and means nature).
Lao Tzu has presented his thoughts in his famous book by the name of "Tao Te Ching". Here
you can read some of his ideas: "Living should be conformable with the way of nature" "Don't
resist against problems" "All problems will be solved automatically if there's not any act
consciously". Lao Tzu's main purpose in above sayings is: "Mind calmness must be kept always
and never apply stress on the mind". Therefore, with combination of these two philosophical schools,
Zen was created in China and then was spread to Japan, the west and other countries.
Somedody who want's to be a zenist, must learn these:
1-Zen exercises includes: Meditation, breathing and sport.
2- Zen principles and laws.
3- Zen literature.
Zen purpose is radically giving internal comfortness as much as possible and there's a short and
comprehensive definition of Zen as follows: "Producing mental calmness and coordinating body and
mind that it's the best situation for human". As much as man's mental comfort is more, much
the same, man contacts and gets closer to God and avoids evil works (this purpose is origin element
of all religions in the world). As a result Zen is necessary for all world people without opposition
with any divine religions. A Zenist who does Zazen (Zen exercises) regularly, will get too relaxation
that he is not afraid of anything even death. For example: Japanese samurai and pilots (Kamikaze) in world
war II. Much effects and easiness are Zazen Characteristics that separate it from other orient schools.
For instance; hard physical exercises or gazing at candle flame and black dot in yoga, produce much mind and
body stress and make disciple releases all teachings. (The most people who come to me to learn Zen meditation,
without having awareness and instructor have done yoga exercises and have gave those up after a while). For man
is willing to does easy exercises instinctive, thus he (or she) will does Zazen with much pleasure.
Zazen is somehow that give a lot calmness to the Zenist naturally. (Not with voluntary concentration and mind
stress like: gazing at a candle flame) and a Zenist won't get tired because of Zazen is conformable with mind nature.
However Zazen are easy, should be learnt under a Zen expert. Since if Zazen be learnt wrongly, will bring negative effects
for Zenist. Somebody is studying Zen teachings, will see illogical subjects. For example: "You won't find as much as you
search" "To get a goal you must not have goal" "Much logics are origin of the mind diseases". However when an experienced Zenist
interpretate those, there's no left ambiguity. For instance: In interpretation of "You won't find as much as you search" you may
have had an experience that when you wanted remember a word, though stressed your mind a lot, you didn't succeed. But when you stopped
stressing, the word was remembered spontaneously. The interesting subject that: "Following these Zen illogical principles, will bring you
much internal calmness and solve your problems naturally.
