Around BORACAY
**Boat**
There are three boat stations along White
Beach.Boat stations have no piers. Boat stations on the east coast may
be used depending on wind direction. There is a Pier in Manoc-Manoc but
it doesn't seem to be in use. Boats are mostly bancas and only
transportation for going to small islands off Boracay and inaccessible
beaches such as Balinhai. Chartering banca costs approx. P200 for an
hour per person, P500 for 3 hours and P800 for 6 hours.Public use
banca from Caticlan to Boracay costs P14 for a local resident and P16
for a tourist.(as of Feb.26,1999)
The island is so small
that we can walk around on foot and see close up nature. It takes only
one hour and half or so for come and go of 4 Km White Beach from one
end to another. However you have to be tough to go around Yapak on
foot, as it is hilly and we seldom find shade trees.Direct sun light
is especially strong from noon to around two p.m.
**Tricycle**- -
Tricycles are motorcycles with
sidecars for passengers. They are one of the most popular transports in
the Philippines. The fare is from P5 to P20 per person. They can not
enter White Beach. It costs approximately P150 per hour to charter a
tricycle.
**Bicycle**
Many resorts rent out bicycles. They cost
about P50 per hour. Check up breaks and pedals first when you borrow a
bicycle. Bicycles should run on the right.Be ware of tricycles on
roads.
