* Shipping quality antique furniture (AND SOLID, HAND-CRAFTED QUALITY REPRODUCTION FURNITURE) isn't cheap, because it usually can't be "knocked down" and reassembled like new furniture.

* Shipping is never related to the price of the item! (For example, if you mail a $100 bill you pay less postage than if you mail a can of soup). Shipping costs are based on dimensions or "dimensional weight"; factored in are the costs of insurance, delivery, and crating securely for mixed loads.

* Our local Craters and Freighters automatically DISCOUNTS OUR customers in appreciation for the large amount of business we provide them through our on-line sales.

* Others may quote lower shipping prices, but sometimes they hide those costs in the price of their items.

* We have received "lower" quotes from other shippers, only to find they don't insure their shipments, require additional fees and tariffs, and their quotes are inaccurate or incomplete (see below).

Rhino Delivery is centrally located in Kansas City, MO. We currently pick up, blanket- wrap and deliver items in all forty-eight continental states for a wide variety of individuals, dealers, and galleries.
Charges are determined by size, not weight, unless the item is constructed of very dense materials such as iron, stone, marble, etc. Cost per cubic feet varies depending on the mileage between the pick up and drop off locations. Charges range from $8 to $5 per cubic foot.

To meet the day-to-day expenses of a nationwide delivery service, we maintain a minimum shipping charge of $300. This charge includes delivery door-to-door as long as access does not involve moving the piece(s) up or down staircases. The ability to take items up or down stairways and quotation of any additional charges that may apply are strictly at the discretion of the driver at the scene.

Deliveries to multi-floor residences with ground floor freight elevators that can accommodate the item(s) do not incur additional charges. Each item is securely blanket wrapped and often additionally shrink-wrapped.

Insurance for shipments up to $2500 is available for a minimum charge of $50. Insurance cost above $2500 is figured on 2% of the first $5,000 of stated value and falls to 1% thereafter.

Breakables, such as glass, marble, or ceramics are quoted at 5% of stated value. For example, if quoting insurance cost for a server with a marble top we would need to know the value of the marble alone, as well as the overall value of the piece. The same applies to glass tabletops and mirrored items. Any such breakables need to be padded and/or boxed or crated before pick up. Clients who so wish may have the driver secure breakables in boxes or crates with advance notice.

The charge for time, labor, and materials are at the driver’s discretion and will be quoted after inspection on the spot. We suggest that local boxing/crating services be used beforehand to reduce shipping costs and possible delays in service.

The timing of pick-ups and deliveries depends on many variables. Once we are given accurate dimensions, stated values, origin and destination data, along with detailed contact information, the pick up and delivery is added to our routing calculations. Typically, we can pick up and deliver anywhere in the continental U.S. within four to six weeks.

Summary:
* As you can see, the shipping process can be confusing and complex. But the bottom line is, anything Rhino ships will be a minimum of $300. The rates we have been getting from Craters and Freighters are very competitive in comparison.
