My work... The Begining I have been practicing sculpture for about 2 and a half years. I have had the honor of learning sculpture from Carl Billingsley and Hanna Jubran. You can view images of my work by clicking the "images" link above or by clicking here. When I first began to explore sculpture I concentrated heavily on process and the different usages I could attain from any given process. Now as I continue to explore sculpture and create works that have aesthetic value I have begun to express that which interests me. What ya sayin'? I have always had an interst in industrial forms. Bridges, trusses, I-beams, cables, and the geometry of these forms have always been things I enjoy. I like industrial forms not only for their visual traits but the fact that these forms can support incrdible amounts of weight. I think that we can look past the utilitarian nature of these forms and find aesthetic feeling from them. I try to incorperate a more natural feel in some of my pieces to attribute a more organic feeling to the industrial elements. Some of my pieces also deal with connection between groups, not meant to reapresent people or any specific groups, but the idea of conectivity between objects. I want people to look at and assign the objects their own identities, what the viewer feels about the objects and the connections between them. I assign certain meanings to the objects in my work, but I think that a person will bring their own experience to the pieces and make their own assignments of meaning. I don't consider myself a conceptual artist and if you asked me to elaborate more on my work I may or may not try or care to explain any further. I think what I do more over with my work than anything else is make art that I find aesthetically pleasing, because someone, somewhere out there will make a connection with it, and thats all any artist truly needs.
