Timbaland

Born Timothy Z. Mosley in Norfolk, Virginia on March 10, 1972, Timbaland, so named by Jodeci member Devante Swing after the Timberland boot, has had many reincarnations. From disc jockey DJ Tiny Tim, to half of the hip hop group Timbaland & Magoo, to Devante Swing's Swing Mob crew known as Da Bassment to S.B.I. (Surrounded By Idiots), a production group that included Pharrell Williams, to CEO of his own label to bodybuilder. Ginuwine's hit single "Pony" and his debut LP "Ginuwine…the Bachelor," produced by Timbaland, introduced a unique rhythmic style that defined the new wave of music in the '90s - Timbaland's Wave. His partnership with high school friend Missy Elliott blossomed into a pairing that delivered Aaliyah's double Platinum album "One In A Million." The two became one of the most successful production/songwriting teams of the early 2000s. Naturally, Elliott looked to Timbaland to also define her as an artist, again creating a successful pairing that propelled Elliott to stardom. It was Timbaland's unique sound and sense of rhythm, combining R&B with hip hop in an eclectic smorgasbord of sound effects that spawned imitators -- one of the highest compliments to an artist. Always in demand, Timbaland juggled his outside production with his new label duties. He delivered another three albums on Elliott, including her 6th, "The Cookbook." He helped define Tweet, who debuted on "Southern Hummingbird" to critical acclaim and produced Lil' Kim's "The Jump Off." And The Game relied on Tim for "Steer" and "Put You On the Game." Former 'NSYNC lead singer Justin Timberlake reached out to Timbaland for his solo debut for the single "Cry Me A River" from his "Justified" album. And the creative duo is doing it again with Justin's highly anticipated album, due September 2006, with Timbaland producing the majority of his album. Along the way he had an amazing 5,000 square foot studio built in Virginia Beach where he does most of his production, traversing regularly between it, his Miami residence and the West Coast. An avid body-builder committed to watching his diet and following a strict training regimen, the svelte artist/producer is as serious about working out as he is about his time in the studio. He started 2006 with a new label launch, again at Interscope, called appropriately Mosely Music Group (MMG). Open to all types of artists, MMG debuted with a bang: Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous" featuring Timbaland is popping up all over the country. The two have a bevy of high profile media dates booked that start with the coveted spot on "Saturday Night Live's" special closing season show in advance of the highly anticipated new album "Loose." Timbaland's innovative music has changed the way we look at and listen o popular music today, and he takes pride in his success at staying ahead of the curve with his originality and experimentation. Mr. Mosley is back on the scene confident, charismatic and looking and feeling better than ever, and he is ready to once again blow your mind and make you move to the beat with his trademark sounds. "You can accomplish anything you put your mind to if you stay persistent and disciplined," explains this driven bachelor, who continues to set musical tastes while adventurously stretching his musical palette.
