Introduction

The Wizards of the Road Motorcycle Club was established on November 8th, 2000. The club was developed for riders and families who were looking for a non-political, family-oriented environment for having fun and making new friends. Our goal is to provide the members with a club charter and riding guidelines that will keep our members safe during scheduled rides and events. We are a not-for-profit organization.

Article I-- Purpose

1. The Wizards of the Road Motorcycle Club's primary function is to conduct group rides and provide entertainment for the benefits of its members.

2. The clubs charter encourages member participation to support this philosophy and strives to operate in a family-oriented, non-political environment. The goal of the club is to increase the level of enthusiasm for riding motorcycles and promoting good will among riders and the public.

Article II--Name and Affiliation

The Wizards of the Road Motorcycle Club is an independent organization which provides services to its members on a "not-for-profit" basis. In the event a dealer or group chooses to sponsor the club, sponsorship can be re-cinded at any time by the sponsor or the club without penalty to either organization.

Article III--Club Directors and Officers

1. The Wizard of the Road Motorcycle Club has the following club officers:

Club Director, Assistant Club Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Activities Planing Director, Safety Officer, Head Road Captain, Web Page Administrator, Newsletter Administrator, Communications Officer, Club Photographer, and Membership Administrator.

2. The primary duties and responsibilities of the club officers shall be as follows:

A. Club Director:

The Club Director is responsible to maintain cohesiveness and offer leadership to the club membership. His role is to insure clear communication between the officers and the members and assist in resolving issues that have a direct impact on the clubs operation. His key function is to guide the membership toward its goals and fulfill the needs of the membership.

B. Assistant Club Director:

The Assistant Club Director assumes the responsiblties of the Club Director in the event that the Director is unavailable.  (See Club Director above).

C Secretary:

The Secretary is responsible for keeping the minutes of the club meetings, maintaining the membership mailing and contact list, and preparation of the orientation package for the membership administrator.

D. Treasurer:

The Treasurer is responsible for collection of membership dues, issuance of the membership cards, termination of membership due to delinquency on yearly dues, and administering any and all federal, state, and local revenue reporting if required.

The Treasurer is also responsible for maintaining the club checks book and savings account. A monthly statement will be made available to the membership for examination at each monthly meeting. All expenses are to be approved by the Club Director and Treasurer prior to disbursement.

E. Activity Planning Director:

The Activity Planning Director will be responsible for the planning of the all functions dinner rides, breakfast rides, evening entertainment (bowling, dancing, picnics, barbecues, potlucks, family outings, children's special events, etc.) and other related functions. The Director must develop various committees with Chairpersons to organize and implement the plans and functions.

F. Safety Officer:

The Safety Officer will be responsible for providing the club members with Information relating to rider training and safety rules for members to follow, allowing for ride safety while on group rides. The Safety Officer has the approval to inspect any motorcycle when a group ride is scheduled. If he feels that the motorcycle is not deemed safe for riding, he has the authority to deny the member or guest the opportunity to ride with the group. The Safety Officer will work with the Lead Road Captain in selecting two-way radio's, medical kits, and all other safety equipment deemed necessary for group safety.

G. Lead Road Captain:

The Lead Road Captain will be responsible for developing the routes for dinner rides, day rides, and weekend trips. He/she will also be responsible for maintaining a pool of at least 10 road captains at all times. He/she will find an alternate road captain if the scheduled road captain has to cancel due to illness or personal issues that prevent him from riding. The Lead Road Captain will schedule and train new members for group riding and as road captains. The Lead Road Captain will work with the Safety Officer in selecting two-way radio's , medical kits, and all other safety equipment deemed necessary for group safety.

H. Web Site Administrator:

The Web Site Administrator is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating the Web Page on a weekly schedule.

I. Newsletter Editor:

The Newsletter Editor is responsible for assembling and organizing written, oral and electronic materials for club newsletter publication.

J. Communications Officer:

The Communications Officer is required to notify the membership on changes to the laws and ordinances on public roads. He/she is also responsible for applying for city permits when a special function such as a poker run by the membership is held.

K. Membership Administrator:

The Membership Administrator is responsible for performing all new registrations for membership and renewals of the existing members. The Administrator will perform new member orientation at the time of registration and issue an orientation package.

L. Club Photographer:

The club photographer will be responsible for taking photos at all activities and events. He will also be responsible for maintaining the photo archive and all historical documentation related to the club activities.

Article IV--Membership

1. All Wizards of the Road Motorcycle Club members may participate in other motorcycle clubs or events.

2. Any member may be suspended or terminated by the club officers if it is found that his/her conduct is undesirable or contrary to the membership guidelines and safety of the members. The member must be notified in writing of the cancellation of his club membership. The reason for the cancellation must be clear, concise terms. The member will be given a refund for his/her yearly dues already paid.

3. Membership may also be cancelled if the members dues are not paid within 60 days after the due date. The member will be notified in this event by mail to his/her home address.

Article V-Dues

1. The club is a not-for-profit organization. Annual Club dues may not exceed twenty dollars ($20) per year. Dues are due at the time of membership registration.

2. The membership dues will be utilized solely to pay or defray the cost of club administration and necessary equipment for group riding to insure membership safety.

3. The club may conduct legitimate fund-raising activities to assist in paying or defraying chapter operating expenses or to raise funds for charitable purposes. All such fund-raising activities will be subject to approval by the club membership.

Article VI-Activities

1. Club events and activities will include family-oriented, safe activities that promotes a positive image of the sport of motorcycling and family unity.

2. The club must hold at least a minimum of two activities a month and two rides per month.

3. All activities are open to membership and guests unless otherwise specified as a closed activity by the planning committee for its members only.

Article VII-Publications and WebPages

1. The club must publish a minimum of six newsletters per year. The newsletters must consist of any printed material informing the membership of activities, stories of interest concerning safety, road experiences, youth information, and any information pertaining to the community.

2. The web page must publish monthly and yearly planned activities and information concerning the club and its commitment to promoting safe , family-oriented, riding environment.

Article VIII-Disbursement of Funds and Assets.

1. In the event that the Wizards of the Road Motorcycle Club is dissolved, all remaining funds and property of the club will, after paying all bills and committed responsibilities, will be distributed to non-profit organizations for charitable purposes. In no event shall any such assets or property be distributed to any Director, Officer, or Members.

Article IX-Disclaimer

The Wizards of the Road Motorcycle Club is an independent organization not affiliated with any other motorcycle club. All members and their guest participate voluntarily and at their own risk in all activities. All Directors, Officers, and Members shall be released and held harmless by the member/guest(s) for any injury or loss to the member/guest or to his or her property which may result from participating in club activities. This means that each and every member of the club, and their guest(s) have no grounds for legal action against the Club, its Directors and Officers, and Members.

Article X-Amendments

Wizards of the Road Motorcycle Club at any time at its sole discretion, may amend this clubs charter due to conflict with national, state, or local laws.
