Why her ?

In my personal humble opinion Kirsten is one of the most talented young actresses (and so were Claire Danes and Winona Ryder). This has nothing to do with the irrefutable fact that she looks more and more gorgeous (I was lucky enough to join the Kirsten-Newsgroup when someone posted three incredible b/w-pictures ; you can check them out later).

The first time I should have seen her in a movie was in "New York Stories" , but unfortunately I didnīt recognize her. I saw the film three times so far and looked for a seven year old girl - unsuccessfully (could anyone please tell me ?!). She wasnīt even credited. Well ...

So I actually "met" Kirsten for the first time in the movie "Interview With The Vampire". Iīm sort of a Tom Cruise fan (except Top Gun) and rented the tape. The plot wasnīt too hot just until a little crying girl appeared on-screen , being transformed into a gory vampire.

Kirsten played Claudia one time cute , then hot tempered , full of fear and scary. She did the most impressive performance of a child actor I saw for years (she was nominated for a Golden Globe - proves Iīm right).

Jumanji seemed to be made for children , but in Austria it was rated 12 - not for the very young ones. The effects were very nice , Robin Williams did a good job and I really loved Bonnie Hunt. But again Kiki did the trick , though I believe it wasnīt her best performance by far.
Thatīs the problem with special-effects movies , actors are thrusted into the background. Anyway , it was fun watching Kirsten lieing to everyone about her parents , running from every sort of wild animals and the Flood and fighting a headhunter.

Iīm sorry I didnīt get Kirsten in "ER" cause Iīm not too fond of sitting in front of my TV Saturday afternoons. All other TV films seemed not to be broadcasted here (maybe only in the U.S.). Itīs a pity nobodyīs there to tell me when my favourite actors or films are on-screen (movie-titles are often tanslated into German so badly , sometimes you donīt faintest idea what they meant).

This was exactly the problem with "Little Women" : The magazine I read only printed the original English title , so when I asked for the video (either to buy or rent) nobody knew about such a film. I almost lost hope until I suddenly discovered a cover with very familiar looking faces - Winona , Claire , Susan (Sarandon) and - Kiki. I picked it up to read the contents. Yes , this was exactly "mine". Sadly I wasnīt able to buy it , it was horridly expensive.
Only few days I got the video during a sellout (thank heaven thereīs always a light at the end of a tunnel). What I thought of the film on the whole you can read on my "Little Women"-page. Just a few words on Kirsten : She actually is Amy March.

[1] gathering round Amy , reading fatherīs letter - [2] publicity still

Iīm not objective enough to talk about "Little Women" just as about any movie , I simply love everything , from actresses and actors to music and costumes. Kiki does a stunning performance as little Amy. She always looks great and is so funny in celebrating her good manners. Sheīs always lovely to Beth and Meg , but struggels with Jo , e.g. when sheīs not allowed to join her going to the theater and pays Jo dearly in burning Joīs scripts.
Or when Beth becomes very ill and Amy has to leave with Laurie in his carriage for aunt March. What a marvellous scene , when she takes Laurieīs promise to give her belongings to her sisters if she died.
This movie makes you wish living in the last century with a family like the Marchīs. At least for a try. Looks like even being poor is still fun ... (mhmmm ...).

I also saw "Wag The Dog": Kirsten has a rather small part in the movie, playing an actress who plays a young Albanian girl who flees an ambush attack. WTD is a really great movie with such great beings as Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro. And think about the wonderful timing (Hi Bill !). Most critics say that WTD is very funny and well performed. That gets along with my opinion too.
