Eric was born to the mortal world on Feb. 19, 1969 to Manuel and Yuly Rodriguez. Both Cuban immigrants, they came to Miami in search of better opportunities and a better life, which they achieved; Manuel continued his career as a doctor, while Yuly opened and managed a small but successful Beauty Saloon.
Eric was always a sheltered child. His parents never cared for social niceties, instead focusing on his success, both at the moment and in the future, a goal for which they spared no expense. A veritable child genius, Eric excelled at any and every subject matter, a fact that only served to alienate him more in the cruel world of Elementary and Middle School. Only in High School did he start to have some friends, and they were only acquaintances, at best. It wasn't until Eric reached the University of Miami that his lived truly changed.
In his sophomore year, Eric met Dr. Vance Robinson, his Economy professor. Recognizing in Eric a wonderful student and someone destined for greatness in the real world, Dr. Robinson took Eric under his wing, developing a great Mentor-Pupil relationship that would benefit Eric immensely. Their relationship continued strong for the next three years until Eric's graduation. In this time, Dr. Robinson took a stick of clay and shaped it into an efficient, lethal and powerful weapon to be let loose in the business world, shaping him from a shy boy with promise to a self-assured, confident and charismatic leader.
After his graduation, Eric managed to secure a good amount of money, both from personal wealth and outside investment, in order to buy a budding Pharmaceutical manufacturer from bankruptcy in it's first year, citing that "if I can revive the pharmaceutical, nothing will be out of my grasp." In short, he did. In its first year of operation under Eric, the plant recovered its losses of the prior year and produced a 15% profit margin. All this from the mind of a 24 year-old. At a later the next year, and while in the company of certain other power-players in the field along with Dr. Robinson, Eric made another comment that would change his life, forever. "The ideal businessman would have to be immortal in order to reap the true benefits of success." The comment wasn't lost on Vance Robinson, and later that same night Dr. Robinson pulled Eric aside, alone, and Embraced him into the clan Ventrue.
Eric accepted his Embrace and new nature with uncharacteristic calm and a certain level of satisfaction. Eric now knew that he could be the most powerful man in the world. For the next two years Eric continued to exercise control of his Pharmaceutical, guiding it to greatness. By now the company had doubled in size and scope, bringing even more wealth to Eric. During this time Vance also instructed Eric in the ways of the Kindred, but never actually presented him to his fellow clanmates, instead choosing to shelter him from all the manipulations and backstabbing, at least until he was ready to do some of his own.
Two years after his Becoming, two events shook the foundation of Eric's world. Deciding that his pupil was ready for the world, Vance left Miami behind. While Eric missed his Sire and Mentor at first, he didn't let that slow him down by a minute. The second one was actually devastating. While traveling down to Miami during the summer, the plane in which Eric's parents traveled crashed into the Everglades. There were no survivors. This sent Eric into a deep depression, one he decided to mask by throwing himself totally into his work, seeking to forget all and everything.
Eric is a very tall and lanky man, of handsome features and charismatic expressions. Possessed of obvious style, he favors designer suits that match his "adventurous nature." His softened Latin features give him a calculating air that many find appealing and charming, and downright irresistible at times, too. He drives the best and flashiest cars, owning at the moment a red Ferrari Testarossa he loves to drive at high speeds. For a year he has been on his own, a vampire outside the birthright that is Kindred society. All that has changed.
The Primogen has called and requested his presence. He answered.
His story has begun...
