This is me and Sonja on the shores of Port Valdez, which is off of Prince William Sound. umm...the dates on these pictures are a little off. I don't think I was actually in Alaska in 1987.
The mountains around Port Valdez. To the right is the end of the Alyeska Pipeline (a.k.a. Alaska Pipeline). Only U.S. ships are allowed to enter Port Valdez to access the oil.
Just north of Valdez (well, just north in Alaska terms actually means about 200 miles) is Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest national park in the United States. The big mountain on the left is Mt. Wrangell, which is around 19,000' tall.
