10/28/00-Coach Herb Sendek showed off some new talent for the first time at today's intra-squad scrimmage, the Red and White game.  Freshmen Marcus Melvin, Scooter Sherrill, Trey Guidry, and Michael Bell all showed well.  6-8 Melvin looks to be a strong forward.  He crashed the boards and got his shots up well.  He also looked to be a decent ball-handler.  6-3 Guard Sherrill was electrifying.  His shot is smooth, and he hit several three pointers on the day, as well as some running jumpers.  He already has State fans amazed.  It looks as if he will wear # 23 well.  6-2 Guard Guidry also looked promising.  His ball handling skills looked good, and he was in on several steals.  Finally, 6-9 Forward Michael Bell is a fast-paced, flashy player.  He capitalized on several fast break opportunities and was quick to the boards.  Also new are 7-1 junior Kristian Jensen and 6-5 freshman Will Roach.  Jensen had a little trouble handling the ball, but he will definitely be a force to be reckoned with on the inside.  Roach was on crutches, but is expected to be back in ten days.
As for returners, all looks well.  Damien Wilkins was awesome as usual with dunks and sweet shots.  Anthony Grundy didn't handle the ball as well as he could have, but he received several fast break passes and converted them.  He was also excellent from the charity stripe.   Walk-on Brian Keeter saw some playing time and looked to shoot often.  Archie Miller's passing was stellar as usual, as well as his three point shooting.  Kenny Inge led everyone in scoring with 26 points.  'Nuff said.  Cliff Crawford handled the ball well and is looking in good shape for the point guard spot.  Cornelius Williams was solid on the inside.  Ron Kelley was on and off.  He characteristically missed a few easy shots, but played well overall.  Damon Thornton is suspended indefinitely due to a DWI and other charges.
The Pack's first exhibition game will be at the ESA on November 4th at 7:30 PM against Interhoop.
11/04/00-The Pack faced Interhoop, a team of international players, in an exhibition matchup today at the ESA, and disposed of them 86-82.  Interhoop proved to be formidable opponents, showing excellent three point shooting.  41 of their 70 shots taken were from beyond the arc, and 17 were made, accounting for 51 of their points.
But the Pack handled the trifecta shooting well and answered with nicely balanced scoring.  Leading the Pack with 21 points and 19 rebounds was senior stand-out Kenny Inge.  Inge also had an assist, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.  Ron Kelley also showed well and was in double figures with 17 points.  Damien Wilkins had 11 points; Anthony Grundy, 10; Cliff Crawford, 9; and Archie Miller and Marcus Melvin, 8.  Both Wilkins and Miller were 2-4 from 3-point land.

The game was a good learning experience for the Pack, as it went down to the wire.  Grundy and Miller both went perfect from the line in the closing seconds to seal the victory.  Inge also had a significant block in the closing minutes.  After the game, Coach Herb Sendek said that overall, he was proud of his Wolfpack and he thought the game was a great experience for the team.  He did say that he believes they have some work to do on the defensive end of the court.
The Pack's second and final exhibition game will be Saturday, November 11 against the California All-Stars at the ESA.  Regular season begins November 17-18 at the ESA with the CoSIDA Classic.
11/11/00- California All-Stars coming
11/17/00- The Pack grabbed a regular season W with a 77-64 win over Penn.  Team shooting was a respectable 43%.  The Pack were in trouble early on.  Anthony Grundy was at one time 1-9 from the field, but the Cardiac Pack prevailed, and Grundy ended up leading scorer with 22 points, adding 5 assists and 6 rebounds.  Other top Wolfpackers include Damien Wilkins (11 points, 4 assists), Ron Kelley (11 points), Cliff Crawford (10 points), and Kenny Inge (11 rebounds, 9 points).  The Pack will advance to the CoSida Classic championship against Charlotte.
11/18/00- The 49ers of UNCC proved that NCSU fans have another UNC to hate.  The Niners handed the Pack its first loss of the season, 95-78.  Leading scorers for UNCC, Rodney White and Demon Brown, combined for 41 points.  The Niners shot 46% from the field and hit 11 threes.  NC State's high scorer was Anthony Grundy with 24 points.  Kenny Inge managed 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Damien Wilkins scored 11.  Archie Miller was a perfect 3-3 from the field, including 2 threes, but the effort was in vain as the Pack dropped to 1-1.  The next matchup is scheduled for November 22 at the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic against Fresno State.
11/22/00- The Wolfpack dropped its second game 82-63 tonight at Springfield, Mass.  The turn-over laden Pack committed 16 in just the first half.  Half time score was 43-28 Fresno State.  State's field goal percentage was an acceptable 40%.  Leading scorers were Anthony Grundy (12) and Cliff Crawford (11).
11/25/00- NC State rebounded nicely from its two losses with a 89-51 thrashing over Charleston Southern.  The Pack's field goal percentage was an awesome 50%.  Top performers included Ron Kelley (19 points), Marcus Melvin (18 points, 9 rebounds), Archie Miller (16 points), Kenny Inge (12 points, 10 rebounds), and Anthony Grundy (11 assists).  The Pack's next opponent is Penn State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
11/29/00- For the second year in a row, NC State's was the deciding game in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, and for the second year in a row, the Pack came through for their league.  Their 84-76 win over Penn State gave the ACC a 5-4 edge for the title.  Penn State put up a valiant effort, but their downfall came in their 35% shooting.  Leading scorer for the Nittany Lions was Titus Ivory with 25.  Best Wolfpackers were Anthony Grundy (29 points, 7 rebounds), Ron Kelley (14 points, 8 rebounds), and Kenny Inge (13 points, 16 rebounds).  NC State shot 46%.
12/02/00- In their first away game of the season, the Pack proved they were up to the challenge, beating the Old Dominion Monarchs 87-78.  The Monarchs' leading scorer was Andre McCullum, contributing 23 points.  Leading the Pack was junior guard Archie Miller, who scored 22 points on 6 of 8 shooting.  Miller also had 2 assists.  Other top Wolfpack were Kenny Inge (21 points), Anthony Grundy (15 points), and Cliff Crawford (11 assists).  The Wolfpack shot a sizzling 66% for the game.
