“ Stupid bastard.” JC mumbled as he slammed the door
of the hotel room he was sharing with Lance. The
sweet blond looked up from his book, his eyebrows
raised at the strange behaviour of his bandmate.
“ Something wrong with Bobbie?” Lance asked, knowing
exactly how his friend would react.
“ Don’t start. You all know Bobbie and I are only
friends.” JC said, flopping down on the bed beside
Lance.
“ But you said you loved her very much. Live on
Larry King.” Lance teased, smirking. JC stood up
abruptly and walked to the window.
“ Could you just…stop. I’m tired to always hear the
same old jokes about Bobbie. No matter what I say,
none of you stop.” JC paused before looking at his
friend. “ Why are you doing this Lance?” He asked
quietly, his eyes locked with Lance’s.
Lance held the gaze and spoke calmly and honestly. “
You’re not better JC. Do you know how many times you
teased me for being shy and single? How many dates
I’ve been forced to go because you all thought I
needed someone? I did tell you I was fine alone for
now. But did you hear a single word? Nope.”
JC sighed and returned to the bed. He remained silent for a while. He played with his shirt until he noticed Lance’s sad face.
“ Are we that bad?” He asked, not really sure why
Lance looked so sad suddenly. The green eyed man
shrugged and stared at the floor.
“ It just gets old after a while. And it won’t stop.
Not until I settle myself into a relationship.”
Lance said as an idea popped into his head. He was
about to tell it but changed his mind.
“ Maybe we could…” JC began as he turned his head
toward Lance. “ Maybe…if they think…it’s stupid but
it could work. If they think we are together, they’ll
leave us alone. It will give us the peace we need.
You to work on your Freelance stuff and me to write my
songs.” He finished quietly, waiting for a reply. He
felt relief when he saw Lance smirking.
“ I was thinking the same thing.”
They both grinned as the ideas were flooding in their heads. They would stop the teasing from their friends.
“ Do you think they’ll believe it?” JC asked, still
smiling widely at the idea of fooling his three other
friends. Lance nodded slowly and his smile turned
into something else. JC could tell his younger friend
knew something more.
“ Trust me, they’ll do. We’ll even have a way to
know if we’re doing it right.”
JC smiled, his eyes sparkling with the anticipation.
Playing with their friends would be fun.
