The Magnificat
M
y soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
because He regarded the lowliness of His handmaid;
for, behold, henceforth all generation shall call me blessed;
because He who is might has done great things for me, and holy is his name;
and His mercy is from heneration to heneration on those who fear Him.
He has shown might with His arm, He has scattered the proud and conceit of their hearts.
He has put down the might from their thrones, and has exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungrey with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty.
He has given help to Israel, His servant, mindfull of His mercy--
Even as he spoke to our fathers--to Arbraham and to his posterity forever.
Amen.
T
his is the prayer said by Mary on her visitation with her cousin Elizabeth.
It is said at the middle of the day in the order of the hours, and is also known
