When the game is started you will name the hero and the heroine of the story. This is a Zelda type rpg in which there is action and sight with the enemy and character. You can move around with the control pad, use a weapon with the A button, and use an item or magic with the B button. The game has three areas. |
The world screen shows you where you are in the game, the monsters, fields, and some data about your character. |
Pushing start at any time will summon the menu screen to the main screen. The bottom window displays what you can use with the A button, a weapon, and what you can use with the B button. The little window on the left is the Hero's condition, and the one on the right is the command window. You can use the control pad and buttons to select a command item. |
Here is a listing of all items you have acquired so far. To equip an item--and then use it latter with the B button--just select an item twice. To sort the items just select two positions to be switched and they will be. To throw items away just select the item and then the garbage can on the bottom of the screen. |
Here you can select the type of spell you wish to chant by selecting one from the magic you know. When you have selected a spell you can use it the the B button. |
Here is were all you weapons an armors are. You must be wearing a helmet, shield, body armor, and have a weapon at any time. On the top will displayed the equipment you have on and your attack and defensive power (AP and DP). Any equipment you are not using currently is on the bottom screen. To equip a weapon or armor just select it twice and you will be holding or wearing it and the other is unequipped. You can also sort the equipment by selecting two to swap, or throw it away by selecting an piece and the garbage can. Note that some equipment cannot be thrown away. |
During your quest some friendly people and animals will help you. The NPC will follow you around and help with the use of the ASK command or defend themselves from monsters too. |
Pressing select will give you a small sub screen with three commands. |
Her you will have two slots to save the game. You can save the game at any time. When you save you save as is, your stats and location are exact. To restore a saved game select continue at the beginning of the game and then the slot you want. |
If you are in the field or town you will be given a grid of the world. The flashing mark is the screen you are in and houses mark towns. If you are in a dungeon a dungeon map will appear. This will show you the rooms you have visited and how they are connected. Again the flashing mark is your location. Dungeon maps are not retained between turning on and off the game. |
You stats are displayed here. |
When you encounter monsters you can use weapons to attack and slay them. To do so just get in range of the monster and press A. You your weapon hits the monster you have done damage. When enough is done the monster is dead and you receive gold and experience points and maybe an item inside a chest. In this world there are six types of weapons and some of them have special uses. If you strike when the Attack Gauge is full you perform a MAX attack which is twice as powerful. |
In the game you will learn magic spell or acquire magical orbs to cast spells for
you. Some are combative and other healing. Each also is aimed differently. Even
though they don't have a MAX attack the higher the Attack Gauge is the more powerful
your spell will be.
Some enemies have special powers to enchant the hero and change his status. They all hinder him and wear off after a time but that may be too late. |
As you battle you will gain experience to level up. In doing so your level increases you HP and MP are healed and you choose a skill. You can raise your power, stamina, wisdom, or will; and thus create your type of hero. |
These items fashioned from metals protect your character. Some have special abilities but always equip with the best you can. |
These are used for various reasons and make you quest easier. |
Different pictures on the screen mean different things. Different terrains do different things. |
Here there are no monsters and people and shops are found. Talk to people and gather clues of what to do. In towns there are three types of buildings. |
At the shops any item or equipment can be sold at half price. Also some shops and inns appear outside of towns. |
Dungeons are sources of monsters and hold great treasures. They have there own topography and unlike the field they have traps and puzzle rooms. |
During the game you will come across natural obstacles that the weapons can be used as tools to help. |
These rooms have a switch or two that must be tripped to reveal the path. There are a few techniques for them |
Sometimes you will come across a dead end and no puzzle room. This is when you must use your abilities to make a path. |
