'Ol Weathered Barn

Right now it was just like many a barn
Sat off in a field all alone
Where once it held life in abundance
With livestock to call its own
Its finish was darkened and roof faded gray
The corral had no longer a gate
But the old barn just sighed at its memories
Neglect couldn't fill it with hate
For at night when the stars came out to play
When the moon shone down with a smile
All the livestock come running from cowboy Heaven
Where they'd gone off to rest for a while
And they raced to the barn to be groomed and be fed
By cowboys who come back a while too
And the old barn felt like brand new again
The way it was meant to do
The cows lay down in the grass to sleep
And the horses kept a sharp eye
For all had to return back to Heaven
In lightness of a new days sky
Yes, the old barn to some passer by
Might have looked neglected and old
But it had its moments of glory
At night it was brand new and bold
So don’t judge the things the eyes might see
When knowledge should come from the heart
For the heart is much wiser I'd say by far
And where love should get its start.
Now again. It looked like any old barn
As it sat in a field all alone
Where once it held life in abundance
With livestock to call its own
