MARCH 2000 CAMPOUT AND COURT OF HONOR

What a great weekend for our first Spring Campout of 2000!  As I walked into camp about 3:00 Saturday afternoon (I helped with the District Pinewood Derby Saturday morning), I was amazed and very impressed by the organization and cleanliness of camp.  The boys under the leadership of our Senior Patrol Leader Tim Weed, and under the supervision of Mr. Norman and Mr. Ray, did an excellent job of setting up the site.  The troop was not there when I arrived, but walked up about 4:00 pm with lots of fish from their successful fishing trip.  While Tim, Cody, and Mr. Ray started cleaning the fish, the remainder of the boys jumped right in to supper preparation.  The meal was done right on time.  Parents began joining us for our 6 pm suppertime, and everyone enjoyed the fine meal.  The Scorpions prepared the ever popular "Santa Fe Stew"  while the Warriors prepared beef roast with veggies over hot coals in the woods.  Both patrols did an excellent job in preparing their meals!  After supper, entertainment was provided by the troop in the form of a campfire with Tim as the master of ceremonies.  Even with my singing, everyone had a good time!  Awards were given out and our new officers were installed.  The rain held off and everyone had an excellent time.  Sunday morning we were treated to a wonderful breakfast prepared by the boys consisting of  bacon, scrambled eggs, biscuits, cereal and fruit.  It was a great campout!  Special thanks to Mr. Norman and Mrs. Marla and her mother for hosting us for this campout!
