What is the Junior Leader Training Conference? The Junior Leader training Conference is a seven day outdoor experience conducted by a trained staff of local youth Scouts and adult Scouters for the purpose of giving junior leaders a meaningful experience in Scouting that will enhance their knowledge and create a deeper understanding of their roles and responsibilities as leaders. The focus is on training the top youth leader in the troop, the Senior Patrol Leader. The conference is not designed to be a replacement for the troop level junior leader training, but rather an extension of that training. The conference is also intended to strengthen the relationship between the junior leader and his Scoutmaster by getting the two together to plan how these new skills will be applied in the troop. The Course Objectives:
To give the participants the confidence and knowledge to run the troop program. To give the participants a basic knowledge of the eleven skills of leadership and help them relate these skills to their troop responsibilities. To give the participants the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with Scouts from other troops. To create an atmosphere where Scouts will experience Scouting at its best. To enhance the relationship between the participant and his Scoutmaster. To have fun!
