Minimum Tank Size and/or Tank Type= A 25G (100L), community tank Favourite Foods= Live & Artifical foods Other Info= This fish was confused with Hyphessobrycon socolofi, reports of its succesful breeding are few. Breeding Info= TANK: A tank with 12-25G (50-100L) capacity with a spawning grid, clumps of plants and dim light. GENDER: The male is bigger, his dorsal and anal fins are greatly extended and pointed. BREEDING RATIO: 1 Male : 1 Female BREEDING WATER: 26C (80F); pH of 6.5; dCH < 1, filtered through peat. OTHER BREEDING INFO: The thick clumps of plants should be planted in the corners of the tank, as the clumps of plants is where the spawning takes place. The female will deposit 20-30 eggs during each act of mating. The incubation period is about 48 hours (2 days), the fry hatch in three days total and switch over to exogenous nutrition on the fourth day. The fish will grow rapidly within the first month, but then the growth will slow down.
