Other Info= The Kuhli Loach will interbreed with Slimy Myersi which is closely related to it. Kuhli Loaches are twilight fish that are active at night, remaining hidden during the daytime.

Breeding Info= TANK: 150-200L, with spawning grid, diffusedlight, islands of floating plants.

GENDER: The male is more slender, then the female

BREEDING RATIO: 1 Male : 1 Female

BREEDING WATER: 26C (80F), pH of 6.5, dCH max. 1; dGH max. 10.

OTHER BREEDING INFO: Spawning is provoked by the intramuscular injection of synthetic gonadotrophin, also recommended is hypophysation of the male with natural carp hypophysis when the female is fully ripe - This is indicated by a greatly bulging belly and by the restless swimming of the females along the sides of the tank. The fish is more likely to spawn when there is a drop in atomosphric pressure. When the fish are spawning, the male and female rise to the surface where they swim rapidly side by side causing waves and eddies on the water surface. On releasing the eggs and milt, they will suddenly plunge to the bottom in a stream of air bubbles.This will be repeated at 5-10 minutes intervals for 2-4 hours, the female deposits more then 1,000 eggs. The parents should be removed after spawning. The incubation period of the eggs, which are a greenish color, is about 24 hours, you should feed the fry brine shrmip nauplii, then after a bit that you should feed then chopped tubifex worms. The newly hatched fry are furnished with external fruticose gills which disappear within a fortnight.
