| Message | Hi, I was a camper at Tohikanee for 5 summers straight (1987-1992), I'm now almost 27 years old. I mainly did the horse programs, but my last summer there I attended a program which took our small group tubing on the Delaware, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, etc. I had such a good time being a camper at Tohikanee, that I (stupidly) decided to work for an overnight YMCA camp in Maryland one summer in college. I should have stayed with the Girl Scouts. The YMCA people were so rigid with rules that any creativity and enthusiasm I had at the start of the summer quickly vanished, and I was miserable. Ah, well I chalk it up as a learning experience. I have to say that the overnight camp experience is QUITE different from a staff member's point of view. Tohikanee however I have very fond memories of. Love your site and pictures of Tohi. |

| Message | Helloooo.... I was the A&C director from 1993-1995, then Camp Director in 1996 and 1997... after Skip and before Yo. This website is great! I enjoyed reading it. I'm so glad to hear (although I never doubted) many people enjoying GS magic at Camp Tohi. I'm currently in my 10th year of teaching art in public school. Since Tohi I've worked at 3 other camps, earned my masters degree in Art Ed., and now live in MD. I also teach ceramics classes part time. Does anyone have words and chords to the slow song "Tohikanee, Land that I Love"? I would be so thrilled to have them... email me if you do!
